2005FPW or 2405FPW

I Love my 2405FPW, I never ever ran my PC (check sig) above 1024x768 of fear of laggy fps. Now I play all games @ 1920x1200.. and it still runs smooth Im shocked... ALl this time with this PC and I didnt use it to its full potential!!! :D

You ran THAT rig at 1024x768?!?! Shame on you! At least I was running at 1280x1024 before, lol. :p

well guys all i can say is thanks but..................... im not getting any LCD and staying with my CRT

the main reasons for this sudden 'no' are basically:

1) the resolution - my 6600GT, after doing lots of research, i have come to the conclusion, cannot handle high resolutions with everything on high and no AA/AF..

2) i cannot afford to upgrade my system along with the monitor, its either one or the other :p, actually its the monitor now ir an upgrade later

thanks anyways people, uve helped me alot, and hopefully ill post in this threadsoon, with pics on a new LCD but not too soon....
:)

just a question about both of these monitors... dont they support picture by picture, and isnt that when you can lower the resolution from lets say 1680x1050 down to 1280x1024, and instead of a stretch just have black bars occupying the remaining space? yea, your loosing some screen, but wouldnt it avoid the whole resolution problem for those people with older rigs (like me)?

and now that i think about it, picture by picture might be different, but i know i read in a review somewhere that these monitors supported that resolution feature...

yeah even my viewsonic vp171b-2 supports this. natively it is 1280x1024 but i can play at 1024x760 if i want in full native glory, its just centered in the middle of the screen..

I have standards.

To put your comment in perspective, how many 2005s did you go through to get one you were happy with?

:p

Nick

True the QA sucks but that doesn't mean the monitor is junk either.

well if the 2005FPW is junk, the 2405 is too good, cause it needs really good hard ware :p

You don't have to run games at the native resolution.

Look at my sig. I have the same card on an underpowered rig and I can play most FPS games (Doom 3, UT2k4 mostly) at 1920x1200 with no AA/16xAF just fine. Either you have a really slow CPU or someone talked out of their ass. I think it's the latter. Besides, like Cabezone said, you don't have to run at native resolution if the average FPS is too low. Lower resolutions work just fine on the 2405FPW. :)

i actually bought the 2405fpw and returned it for the 2005fpw, its just too big for a daily monitor. It looks cool but if your not watching a wide screen dvd daily, its a waste of money, get the 2001 or the 2005

I just got a 2005 and.... well, many things are awesome about it.

And the backlighting was questionable at first, and is almost unbearable after one week's use. Wow, even during bootup (POST), with text on the screen the backlight is noticable all along the top and in the bottom corners. And this is on the second revision!

It will be returned shortly.

well peoplwe thankls for all ur help, but i bit the bullet and went a totally different route...... i got myself an Apple Cinema Display 20" cause it was on sale....

F*CK ITS AWESOME!!!! sorry had to let it out...... very nice colours, no ghosting in HL2 as of yet, and overall looks sweet no back light issues, not one dead pixel, and most of all, looks a lot nice than the 2005FPW IMO :p thanks all for the advice, and im sure ill post up soon in the LCD thread!

Life is full of aluminum colored surprises.....

Buy the 2405fpw! Best hardware decision I've made since buying a Zeos Pantera (Pentium 90 with a Diamond Stealth 64 and 17" CRT!) $4000 Woot!
