1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
This is for a workstation in a computer lab. Mostly web browsing, general multitasking stuff, maybe some CAD-work(hence a decent GPU). Not sure if all programs have 64bit compatible, so aiming for a 32bit OS(4GB RAM).

IT HAS TO BE prebuilt (aka Dell, HP, no macs unfortunately)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$2000 excluding tax or shipping
3) Where do you live?
Baltimore MD
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Planning to buy from Dell. Looking at what is good for the budget. 2 Options after this intro stuff
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
None
6) Will you be overclocking?
None
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
19-24". Not sure if I should skimp on some money to spend on dual screens
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Now
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Esata
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
32bit Windows 7 and XP

First one's processor isn't that fast
Second one only has a 6450 ATI, cant get any higher (etc 6670)
Third one's processor Xeon E3-1225 is based on SandyBridge, but cant find any good reviews for it. Powerful GPU

Processor wise, both the 2600 and E5606 came out this year, but the 2600 looks way more powerful. The target for this computer isn't for continuous lab/number crunching that requires ECC mem, but the 2600 comes with a way inferior GPU

I would say CPU...

anyone know the difference b/w Xeon E2-1225 and i7 2600? They are both Sandy Bridge arch, i7 has 2MB more L3 cache plus a little more ghz and turbo, but other than that, they're just binned as Workstation vs Consumer parts right?

From what I can find out the E3-1225, the difference between that and the i7 2600 is the E3-1225 doesn't have hyperthreading.

well, i'm not even sure if that's right

wikipedia and some sources say 4C/4T

some sellers say its 4C/8T

and it looks like E3-1225 doesn't have turbo?

guess I have to wait until Intel officially releases it
