this only happens when i play bc2.
when i went to task manager after i exited the game it was still running in the background.
same here.
so i guess we dont know for sure if its the game or the drivers.
Smooth move nvidia. Say what you will about ATI drivers but this is the second set of drivers causing hardware failure from nvidia in a pretty short time.
Blizzard already issued a warning to its playerbase because of cards dying using this driver while playing SC2 beta. It is not BC2.
what was the first driver set that caused issues?
Is there any way to tell if damage was done to the card even if things seem ok after downgrading the driver? I couldn't figure out why I was getting extreme hitching in FSX a few days ago and I'm thinking now it was probably these drivers causing it. Everything seems to be running ok now after downgrading, but I'm worried that the card may have been damaged. Card is GTX260 SP216 and I literally just bought it last week...
And to think, I switched because of driver problems with FSX and my old 4870. Does anyone test things anymore?
The 196.75 is just a taste of how fermi will be like! Overheating, random stuttering, gray screen of death...!
I built a new system last week with a Gigabyte motherboard and Phenom 955BE. It ran great for about a week until I updated the videocard drivers to 196.75. I played about 45 minutes of BC2 yesterday before the computer locked up. When I rebooted there was no post, no nothing. All of the fans started and the videocard started "revving" up and down but that was it. I replaced my GTX 280 with a 8400 that's in my wife's computer but the same thing happened. I figured the Gigabyte motherboard could not handle the 955BE but after reading this thread I am not so sure. I ordered another Gigabyte motherboard today from Newegg (I hope its not fake) and will be RMAing this motherboard on Monday, but I guarantee that I will be removing those drivers as soon as I get my system up and running again. I guess I will never know for sure, but i sure would be pissed if I did.
man, you need to message kyle and let him know, nvidia asked him to forward to them any forum users that were affected by the bad drivers. hopefully they'll replace your dead card!

It basically says that they are not liable for anything that goes bad. Here it is.
Glad I don't update drivers for anything MOST of the time.I just wonder if I have done a update for my 275.Some of my games have been acting strange of late.Geez!
Priceless.

So to clarify, so long as we use rivatuner or something similar to pump up our fan speed manually and keep an eye on our temps we are fine? I get much better performance in BC2 with the new drivers (SLI enabled).
