have had a proto not worth its weight sitting around... then I started thinking about it...

I consolidated the dual hexes and had a working but cpu less server...
soo I opened up the crummy proto and found....

:D

time to put it to work...

/me shakes his fist at patriot!!

:p just kidding. though honestly all i care about is when you get bulldozer ES chips in and can test if they are actually multiplier locked or not.

will that cut it for bigadv...seems a little low on the clocks to make it...

I am just looking around for idleness...

next weeks work...

got 2 amd 8 cores 2ghz... and server.. need to track down some heatsinks n ram

I am sure there are some modern blades doing nothing...

other than that...

I see my scrap pile workstation... from when we moved to this lab... needed a 2nd workstation... had one for cube... so I found a cpu less low end server... found a cpu ...hs ram and 4 15k sas drives... p400 ... all on the scrap pile... I did have to borrow cables for sas to p400 from a proto in the lab... 1.86 ghz c2d to be reborn for smp....

nother proto...got an otpy 1222 smp

thats about the extent of my domain... my ram and hs stockpile is rather thin... I find more cpus than ram... one reason why I give then away... if its scrap it can go home... mostly I double up my test rack...

yeah me too... have a system... mostly... they picked up a rather vital piece to rework it... have not been replying to emails... its a 585 with 4 interlagos... yeah ... hell ya I want to test it....

erk.... glad arctic silver doesn't dry out that fast...ugh... had to reuse some thermal grease... the tube I thought I stuck in my bag wasn't there...

it actually formed a nice pattern... surprised .. sure it could be cooler if I fix it next week...oh well fast fans and low ambient...

yeah its got turbo... the system I dropped it in however doesn't like the fact that its got 6 cores... might have to update this here bios...

my bubble is popped... even with latest bios... it doesnt like This hex... frowns... pockets...

I'll give it a good folding home

I bet you would... lol...

I have some other servers that might like it better...
I will do some swapping around when I have time...

Well if it does not work I will more then happily trade you a 950 or low end xeon.

I already got a 920 in a trade... lol

sure I will trade the 920 for a 930 ;)

Yeah, but arn't the 930's a mixed bag when it comes to overclocking? They don't seem to overclock as consistently or as well as the 920's. Mine in folding1 is especially stubborn as it won't do more than 3.8ghz no matter what you throw at it. It starts hitting a wall at 3.67ghz, as it requires massive voltage increases just to get to 3.8. I'm currently running it at 3.46ghz just to make sure it runs only in the 60's while folding.

please for the love of god get your hands on the quad interlagos system and leak me some results please even if its privately, i can keep a secret :D.. i'm begging you!!!

if that 2.2Ghz hexcore is a dual processor rig, it will definitely complete the bigadv WU's in time. if its a single processor it might be cutting it close but it should still complete the 6900/1 WU's in time. if not it should still do 20k PPD on the standard SMP client.

I agree, we need some hard numbers on what a 64 core quad Interlagos system can do!

It is a shame that Interlagos won't be out till Q3 of this year.

There was a "leaked" folding benchie on overclock.net (IIRC) saying that the interlagos quad 64-core unit was getting 3:52 times-per-frame on BigAdv.

http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/958079-leaked-fah-score-4-way-interlagos.html

Still am not sure if real or fake, as that is half the TPF I can get with 48-cores, and still over 2 minutes faster than the fastest quad systems out there.

If it's real though, that is scary.

Tried reading through that thread but that Mr. Pie guy is an idiot. It's 8 modules 16 cores per processor. Why no one on that forum bothered to correct them just shows they are all talking out of their asses and don't know a damn thing about bulldozer.

lol
yeah...but thats also how amd will be marketing it...
the consumer side
fx8000 will be the 8 core 4 module ...u have 2 int and 1 fp... and your fp unit can do multiple 64bit operations concurrently does really matter that there is only one?

I really really want to play with it... lol

Let's just hope that it is true, although i'm skeptical about any leaked benchies as they are almost always fake 85% of the time.

only one way to find out... ;)

Yeah, but AMD has to release the chips first. One of you guys should try to go recruit that one JF-AMD guy and have him come to the DC section. Maybe we can get him to try running F&H as one of the tests they likely use to check for stability.

Can you keep it up this time? 900K in a day looks nice, but it looks better if you can follow it up with another good day....

2684s and regular smp units are killing me at the moment. If Stanford would get the Linux bigadv pool straightened out, I'd give you a solid 750K ppd to shoot for....

I have beta bigadv and regular bigadv... I should be able to keep ~800k stable... I was pumping 10-18 wu out each day... yesterday I did 12...
I am running an smp.... and another client ... will get a sandy bigadv up this week...

This race at the top makes me wonder who our first million ppd folder will be on this forum! The only person putting out that kind of consistent production from what i'veseen, appears to be on that one chinese team.

I was actually thinking about that over the weekend. I have a theoretical max of right at 800K ppd right now, which will equate to an actual of 650K to 750K depending on the day/update. To show a consistant 1 million ppd, you probably need a theoretical max in the 1.2 million ppd range. That would mean a 50% increase in my production. I don't think I am willing to go much if any further than I am now and really keep the "@Home" part of this going. Expansion from here on for me will need to be creative....

working on that creativity here...

want to tap into that vmware server when its not being used... 24cores @ 2.1 & 64gb of ram... in quad chan mode...

got one dual hex system down that I am trying to convince to work...

buy 2 more SR-2's ?

that sounds creative

talk to Sapphire about unlocked dual socket G34 boards...

lol...proto unstable with 2.26ghz 6 core... chip in other systems...unsupported cpu...

try back in it...good but buggy...update bios...unsupported cpu...you have got to be joking lol..

trying to track down some ram to appease the one c32 system...gah...could do dual 2.13 quads on another...but nics dont work...gah...
I have 120k that just really does not want to be had...

hmmm my scrap nic stash... is empty... grr...

If Interlagos is going to be as good as we are hoping, perhaps a quad G34 board with 4 Interlagos might do the trick. The cost of those processors alone will probably be mindblowing though, unless you can find some extra spicy editions up on Ebay.

I am damn blind... I always correlated extra spicy to es...but hadn't occured to me why... until just now...lol...

if my cohort would stop telecommuting... I would get to play sooner...grr...

I am hoping some extra spicy C32 flavored chips pop up on ebay before I find a project car and start dumping money into that. My 4122s are slow!

btw....if anyone is like Kendreck and has not figured out that Patriot=eagle07 ...now you know....

@musky (cue jaws theme)
