Im not sure which brand to get and if its worth going with a company like abit to increase from 128 megs of ram to 256. any help you guys could offer would be appreciated.

Thanks

5900XT, it beats the 9600XT and 5700U hands down easily.

And its right there at the top of your budget.

Or possibly a used 9800 Pro or 9700Pro

New 9800 Pros are about $205 so I assume thats out of your price range.

Yes if you can find the money buy a 9800Pro it will last you for a good time.
aslo wait a couple of weeks becuase the 9800Pro prices are droping

9800 Pro if you can stand to save up more money.

But, a 9700Pro is a very good card also, it is only like 170 or so.

on newegg.com, they now have 9600XTs for $120, so they are now the budget card of choice.

You can get a 9700Pro for $188 on newegg.com, so that is definately your best choice, unless you can get 20 bucks more for a 9800 Pro, the 9700 Pro will be your best bet. It blows away all Geforce FX cards in DX9.

I found the other deal for a chaintech 9800Pro for $200 with a 20% off coupan and free shipping (makes it $160). If I can find it again ill post here, it was a helluva a deal (and its sexy blue)

what's up with all the 5900XT better then radeon 9600XT bullshit? the 9600XT's are just as good, and are better in some cases then the former. I saw 9800 pro's for 195 the other day, so save another 15 bucks. Or go with the 9700 PRO, it'll kick the 9600XT and 5900XT's asses all over the floor. Or just save 60 bucks and get a 9600 pro. it all depends on how much you want to spend, but the 5900XT is out of the question.

Some games handle better with the 5900XT and some the 9600XT is better. The 9700Pro and higher is definatly better thant he 5900XT though... To better help you pick a card use this....

I refer to that alot, specs and graphics for every card fomr hte Geforce4 MX to the 9800XT. Tons of benchmarks, use that to help choose the card thats right for you.

The 9700pro would be the best in your price range, i would still recommend saving a total of $200 and grab a 9800pro

damn thats a pudry card. Would match my blue mobo alot better than this ugly ass red 9800Pro. Get a few extra bones and go with that, you cant go wrong for that price (and its got ramsinks to I notice, good OCing potential there)

Uh, no. 9600xt is a 128-bit 4x1 card. 5900xt is a 256-bit 4x2 card. 5900xt is in the league of the 9700/9800PRO (assuming its a 256-bit 9800pro), the 9600xt isn't.

BTW, here is a review of a 5900XT with a blue PCB for those who like blue:

Just make sure it's 256bit if you get the 9800Pro.

And yes, 5900XT is about the same as the 9600XT but scales much higher.

I'd get the 5900XT if I were you...

Where can I get a 9700Pro? Newegg only sells the AIW.

And how does the GeforceFX 5700 Ultra compare to ny 9600XT?

damn that blue one is out of stock. i have to shop for it now.
