140mm "Gentle Typhoons"?

Everywhere I look for good radiator fans, I see Nidec Servo Gentle Typhoons. They're hailed as the best: they're quiet and move a lot of air through rads.

Those are characteristics I want for the single 140mm rad that I'm going to be cooling my GPU with, because it's a Swiftech res/rad/pump and I can only put one fan on it. It seems like Nidecs only come in 120mm... Is there a fan with Gentle Typhoon-like performance in a 140mm package?

In terms of bearing design, the B-gears B-Blaster 140mm fans come closest, as they utilize a double ball bearing design like the Gentle Typhoons. Therefore, sound signature should be similar.

I would recommend also looking at Noctua fans, as they have a really good reputation. Silverstone Air Penetrator seems to get recommended a bit. The Thermaltake Riing fans look promising as well, and if nothing else, they look really good.

I've been quite happy with the Phobya Nano-G Silent Waterproof 140s. 1000 RPM, 1.85 mm H2O pressure, ca. 6.5V startup voltage. $12.22 at Aquatuning with discounts for multiple purchases (minus 5% if buying 3, minus 6%is buying 4, minus 10% in buying 9. Shipping from Germany was FAST and reasonable (2 day air FedEx ) and free if order is over $250.

Quiet 4K Gaming PC Build Guide | silentpcreview.com - These guys are suggesting the Phanteks PH-F140HP, though as a case fan...and to minimize noise.

I've never used them...but I'll probably be purchasing 4x 140mm fans in the near future.

Hmm... just noticed these were the fans supplied with the Phanteks heatsink... meaning I have heard them before. Hmm... I don't remember thinking I needed those fans. Damnit.

First 140 mm Fan Roundup: Noctua, Phanteks, Xigmatek | silentpcreview.com - alright, here is the comparison. I might try the Phanteks fan I guess... I heard them at full speed, on a heatsink, in an already loud system... maybe they were good, dunno.

...and to thicken the Phanteks plot, their fan lineup has expanded. So

Yep... I'll look into this later... screw this. I think the conclusion might have been that the original Phanteks HP was the best of them.

Edit: Recensione Fractal Venturi serie HF e HP - I was also looking at the Fractal HP-14 PWM; newegg has it for less than amazon right now.

Edit 2: Fractal Design Venturi HP-14 140mm fan - though here the Noiseblocker NB-eloop and EK Vardar are looking good

Edit 3: Yep... My long unexpected search for a 140mm fan has led me to the EK Vardar ($20) or that NB-eloop Noiseblocker ($30) or that original Phanteks-HP listed above (usually below $20).

When I was looking for fans, most of the tests pretty much ended up with 120mm vardars being the best in performance while still being not as noisy as some others. If the 140mm fans are made the same way, they should be a good choice.
In the end, the differences are really small. All good fans seem to fall into the same price bracket, and I pretty much went with them because of ball bearings and because my other stuff was from ek. Had corsair sp120, didn't see a problem with them either.

i've only had ek varders on my ek predator 360, but they ran very nicely.

i do have a ton of 120 and 140mm phanteks fans , MP, XP etc and they all work great. Low noise. i have 12 of the 120mm MP on my 2 radiators.and a few of the 140mm XPs for general air flow in my build.

I also have phanteks in some of my other cases, and i find them to push good air flow and have very quiet noise profiles.
