I'm looking to replace the 2x140mm fans in my Corsair 700D (one for bottom intake and another to cool the HDD), what would be the best choice here? The less noise the better but at the same time I want performance as well.
I've been looking at the Noiseblocker PK-3, Thermalright TY-140, X-Silent, Scythe Slipstream, Prolimatech Blue Vortex but it seems to be out of stock everywhere.
Any suggestions?
Btw I have 5 Gentle Typhoon AP-15 with 2x140mm, do I really need a fan controller?

Noiseblockers are the best high-RPM 140 fans you can find from what I've seen. The Aerocool Shark also doesn't seem all that bad. I have the Aerocool Silver Lightning, they're pretty good fans.

Not bad, will look into those. Thanks dude!

I've heard good things about Noiseblocker but never actually use it, $25 a pop ain't cheap but guess it's a trade off for noise/performance ratio.
I seriously consider the Blue Vortex but as mention above they're sold out everywhere, and the TY-140 has 120mm mounting holes so I'm not sure if I need to do some mods to fit in.

Do they sell Alpenfohn Wing Boost's in the US yet? They are rated 104CFM @19.7dBa. Have one, bought on recommendation, but no way of testing. But they are quiet and blow lots of air.

I went with all noctua fans on my 800d. amazon has the 140mm noctuas for 25 shipped with no tax (CA). Noctua fans are pricey but they get the job done so i have no complaints.

The cool thing about the 140mm noctua fans is that they can be mounted in 120mm slots because the housing on the 140mm is circular and not square.

I have read good things about both thermalright fans, (TY140 and Xsilent 140), check xbit labs review of the 140mm fans, puts the thermalright xsilent 140 at 3 place with good airflow and decently quiet.

The 700D should have mounting holes for both 140 and 120 fans.

TY-140s are pretty hoss.

Price isn't outrageous, CFM vs. noise is excellent, and overall CFM is very respectable.

I only use 1 at the moment (on my HSF), and I only hear it running over the background noise of GPU fans and 120mm case fans when stress testing. Even spun up to full, it's not outrageously loud and the noise is not especially annoying (subjective judgment).

Guys so can you confirm I can use the TY-140 to replace the one for bottom intake and underneath the HDD without modding since I heard it only has 120mm mounting holes?

Why don't you look at the case yourself? If it has two sets of mounting holes (one set inside of the other), then it is almost definitely 120mm mounting holes.

The Aerocool Silver Lightnings for ~$12 from Koolertek.com is a fairly good buy IMO. If you don't mind the white LED's and silver blades.

I don't have it with me at the moment so I really can't, anyway it's been confirmed the case does have 120mm mounting holes at the bottom so I'm gonna get the TY-140. I'll look into that Aerocool fan, might use that to cool the HDD. :D
The other question is should I get a fan controller since I use all quiet fans, well I'm not sure how quiet they are but that's what I'm debating now.

800D has only 140mm holes. I'm looking at it right now as I type. It would be weird if the 700D had both 140 and 120, while the 800D only has 140mm holes

Depends on the fan speed. 1500 RPM (which the silver lightnings are) is audible, but turn them down and they're near silent.

Ouch, thank you, now I'm confused lol. From what I heard you gotto do some mods to the TY-140 to make it fit at the bottom, which I try not to. Other alternatives?

So I would need a fan controller, anyway I just look it up at koolertek and I don't think I can stand over 30dB, and since it's for the HDD so I think any fan with less noise would work. What about the Xigmatek XLF?

The only 140MM fans I would ever consider buying are from Thermalright (TY-140 and X-Silent). Anything else that our performs them only does so marginally and not worth the stupid prices "premium" fans command.

I've heard good things about the X-Silent, looks like TY-140 is one of the best and the X-Silent is just a bit below, after reading the review on Xbitlab guess I'm just gonna get 2 X-Silent fans, I'm kinda tired of searching anyway. Thank you for all the suggestions guys :)
The only question left is with 5x Gentle Typhoon AP-15 and 2x X-Silent do I need a fan controller?

Just keep in mind the X-Silent tops out at 1000RPM which is why they're so quiet and I think the same thing goes for the TY-140. They still shift a good amount of air though. With five GTs I'd definitely get a fan controller. From what I've gathered heatsinks benefit most from fans around 1600RPM and being able to dial them back to 1000RPM (very quiet) on the fly is extremely helpful. I have two AP-15s on my Ven-X and two 2700RPM 92MM GT fans on my T-Rad2 and am SO thankful I have a fan controller. The GTs are pretty loud at max RPM, but still not as loud as many other maxed out fans which is why they're so worth it. I love my GTs. :D

As long as it's better than the stock fan and quiet then I'm good. :D
That's what I thought about getting a fan controller, just need someone to chime in so I can be more convinced lol. I was torn between the Lamptron FC5 V2 and the Scythe Kaze Master but the Lamptron is pretty hard to find and I'm not sure it's worth the premium price either besides the fact that it can support up to 30W/channel. What fan controller do you have and what do you think of the Scythe Kaze Master?

I actually have the Kaze Master Pro which works great and looks fantastic. Only "annoyance" is the strange layout since it only can display two fans at once so you need to think differently about which fans you want to monitor and how you lay it out. The knobs also lost some of their resistance after months of constantly being fiddled with. I had the normal Kaze Master before I upgraded since four channels wouldn't be enough. All in all I'd say you can't go wrong with either one, the 30W/channel on the Lamptron sounds pretty nice since you can use a Y-splitter and plug more than one fan per channel if you ever run out of space. No idea how much wattage the Scythe fan controllers can put out though.

The display is the reason I don't consider the Pro version, plus I don't really like how it looks. :D I think I can get away with 4 channels, either I'm just gonna try to use 2 fans on 1 channel or just let 1 top exhaust running at full speed and control the 2 GTs on my H70 with another 2 on top. I read somewhere the Scythe Kaze Master/Pro can handle up to 12W per channel and I don't think the GT really consume lot of power.
Anyway I'm just gonna get the Kaze Master and call it's set, gotto get ready for my build coming next week. :D
Really appreciate for the input btw. :)

Keep in mind you should never trust dB ratings provided by the manufacturer, it's much better to look up actual testing, because there is no set standard for dB testing. The best way to determine noise is by the RPM of the fan and the bearing type. Ball bearings are generally louder than sleeve bearings, but sleeve bearings may wear out faster when in a horizontal position. Specialized bearings are generally the quietest bearings, but you pay a premium for them.

Case in point: Cooler Master R4 2000 RPM fans are rated at 19 dB. They are louder than the Silver Lightnings rated at 30 dB.

Gentle Typhoons as I recall for the 1850 RPM model consume about 2 watts at most.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm definitely aware of that, that's why I come here and ask people with actual experience. I have a R4 running and while it doesn't sound that bad I can still hear it over other components, it's still a good fan IMO. As for the GT if that's the case then I can use 2 on one channel, sweet. :D

Dunno what you're talking about, or looking at.

Back exhaust - both 120mm and 140mm holes
Top grill - 120mm x 3
Intake fan - 140mm
Hot swappable HD bay - 140mm
Non swappable, bottom HD bay - 120mm

Personally I favor the Noctua nf-p14 flx for when I don't care about money or looks. I haven't found a really good general purpose 140mm though so I tend to avoid having to use them and that way I can stick to ap-14/15s

I thought you were referring to the intake fan and not the exhaust fan. My mistake. :D

No, it could be my mistake. I was unclear on what you were talking about--if it was only for one specific fan on the case, or all of them. The original post was asking about the 700D though, and I have no idea if the design is identical for the fans.
