Hi there folks.

can those of you who had a success running 12gb on x58
post the mb and memory brand and your voltage settings ?

+ any cpu OC settings

ware there any problems running 12gb ? stability ? heat ? other ?

any specific recommandations ?

thanks very much in advance.

I put together an i7 920 system with 12 GB memory:
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
2*CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
I had some boot issues but after that the system runs without problem with SUSE 11.1. I do not overclock though. I had no time to try it out.

I built about 7-9 systems with 12 GB of memory.

CPU: i7 940

1/2 the Motherboards were: Asus P6T Deluxe
1/2 the Motherboards were: Asus P6T Deluxe v2

All the memory was: G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7T-6GBPK - Retail

The temps were not an issue. there was no overclock as these are computers for work used for 3dsmax, photoshop, etc, that is why i got the lower speed memory. Runs great all the 3d artists love them.

I had no issues getting this to work on any of the computers. all the memory worked out of the box and there have been no issues with it.

The most painful part was building a computer for work that smoked my home computer.

Yep, check out the system in my sig. 12gb of goodness.

i7 + 12 GB Corsair Dominator(6x2GB)....running at BLCK175(3.5GHz) on stock voltage.

Nice, I don't mind trying that myself. Is BLCK set at 175 the only setting you've changed to overclock ?

I set OC's settings to manual and disabled turbo (I don't need it at 3.5Ghz) and speedstep, set CPU and RAM voltage manually(just in case), BLCK to 175, reboot and *ding*...been running like a charm ever since.

Mine is a Core i7 965, non-OC, running with two different 6GBs kits, one a crucial 1333mhz 6GB kit, one a g.skill 1333mhz 6GB kit, on an Asus P6T Deluxe. Using whatever voltage it defaults to, never looked at it or messed with it, both the kits are 1.5v though so I imagine that's what it's running them at. Everything has been smooth. Not much you need to do, just get your ram from a good vendor, and get a decent mobo, this Asus P6T deluxe has been great, for example, and everything should work.

My rig in the sig has 12 gigs... lol.

Kicks ass. Mem runs at 1333. Never OC'd it, waiting to pick up a CPU cooler first.

WOW people, i see that 12gb setups are more common then i've expected.

this is very good news. thank you all

my dream machine is coming ... yaaaaamm yaaaaamm habba habba. :D

See sig. I have to underclock the memory at about 1086, but CAS Latency is at 6 with tight timings. (7's )

12 gb of ocz platinum 1600 with i7 920, wish vista would make use of more of it though lol.

what do you guys do with ur PCs that requires 12GB ram?

Personally, actually, not much, but modern OSes use extra ram as a cache so programs launch faster, and the fact that you can get 12GBs for like $170 (2x6GB kits), and never have to worry about running out of ram again (unless you do some truly heavy duty stuff) is nice.
