11.9 CAP3 is up

These caps reference crossfire profile for battlefield 3... It doesn't say crossfire profile for BF3 Open Beta like others have said. It seems this is the official crossfire profile for the final version of the game. That tells me that the 11.10 driver may have the support for battlefield 3 retail built in. :)

11.9 CAP3 is strictly for the release day issue of BF3 and nothing else.

The Preview 11.10 V2 or V3 can be used for the release of BF3, but the Catalyst guy says the V3 is pretty much identical to the WHQL 11.10 drivers, which will not be released until 10-31-2011.:D So they are recommending those (V3) drivers.
 
Anybody got any tips for installing this without getting a BSOD? I can't install this one or the last one without BSOD. Still happens if I turn CFX off.

Installing the CAP or the driver?

If you want to just install the CAP, download it, go to control panel and programs, then uninstall any other CAPs you might have installed, then install this one.

I'm really OCD about this stuff, I also generally go to the AMD folder in Programs and delete the CAPs there too.

each CAP has everything from any other CAP you you only need one installed at any one time.:D
 
I cannot seem to get Eyefinity to set up with 11.10 preview 3. Anyone else having problems?

I haven't updated yet......but I hope our friends at AMD didn't leave something out.....:eek:

Unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
 
Everytime I try and set up Eyefinity with 11.10 Preview 3, my computer crashes. It didn't dp this with the regular drivers installed. The thing that sucks is this is a brand new patched win 7 install. God AMD driver team sucks.

The driver installed just fine for me. It's the CAPs I've been having problems with. I'll have to try uninstalling the old one first.

Well that's interesting... I can't even uninstall the last two CAPs I installed without BSOD... Hrm... I may have to just do a whole driver removal + driver sweeper.

Yes, that's exactly what you have to do. Also remember EVERYONE to never stack caps on your system. Remove the old one, reboot, install the new one, reboot... every single time

At least since I have owned my cayman cards. You can stack caps but they can/did cause trouble for me with my setup. I'm kind of a burnt by the fire once kinda guy. My hand doesn't go anywhere near it the second time.

When I first bought my cards after owning a GTX 280 and not knowing what to expect from AMD I started noticing odd Crash to desktop, ATIMkdag or whatever bsod, and negative crossfire scaling in a few games etc.. Once I stopped stacking caps these problems were fixed.

Edit to add that since the newer caps contain the profiles in the caps before it and the newer driver the profiles from all the caps before it there really is no reason to stack caps in the first place.

Again it can be done but does nothing for you and from my experience causes problems.. so it's a no brainer to remove/install new instead of stacking.
