Hey guys im helping my friend upgrade his computer.

He currently has a Q6600, with an Earthwatts 500, and a 8800gts g92 version.
he wants to upgrade his gpu and proabaly get a SSD, and maybe a PSU.

Woundering if you guys have any reconmendations on a new GPU and SSD.

He currently plays at a res of 1680x1050.

I am possibly thinking about a 5870, but i think thats a overkill right now.
And need some suggestions on a new SSD.

Thanks.

At most I'd recommend the HD 5850 for that small resolution. No need to replace the PSU.

SSD wise, take a look at the Intel's SSDs.

Acutally he changed his mind about SSD, hes fine with his current drive. What whould you reconmend gpu wise cause he is stepping up to the 1080p resolution.

HD 5870 but that would also require a PSU upgrade. Go with the Corsair 650TX.

He probably would still be fine with the Antec Earthwatts 500 psu as the Radeon HD 5870 consumes lower power under idle/load than a Radeon HD 4890 video card. But, he will be overclocking the Q6600 cpu as well. Personally, I would just upgrade the PSU if I'm gonna spend $400 on a video card.
