Yeah, their file transfer manager only works through IE.

Am I correct in thinking that, since I'll get 10 Vista keys from Technet, I can use a single key on a single machine, no matter how many times I reformat it, just like a regular retail key?

Also, will I have to activate 1 of my 10 keys before Technet will issue me another one?

I want to make sure I can obtain all my allotted keys before my sub runs out.

You can generate your key(s) at anytime while your subscription is valid.

They're retail keys, so there's no limit to how many times a key can be used to install an OS, but it can only be installed/active on a single machine at any given time (just like a regular retail license).

Retail licenses are not restricted to a single piece of hardware.

Before my sub ran out, I grabbed a bunch of keys, but the truth is that I have no use for all of those Office keys....I've still got 3 retail office 2007 Pro keys that MS gave me when that product launched (though I've used 3 others that they gave me)
 
We're in a recession, you'd think they would have made the sale better than last years not more expensive. I'll wait till it's $99 or just buy a single copy of Win 7 for gaming, and put Linux on everything else.

Technet is for IT pros. Many of us may use it as a way to get cheap software, but if $250 is too much, then I don't think MS is going to sweat it. A single license for a full version of Pro is as much or more than Technet. You get WHS, Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2, as well as a shitload of Office licenses, including the upcoming 2010.

That seems like it's worth $250 to me. I'd prefer 100 bucks...and next year I might decide it's not worth renewing, but this year, it clearly is worth it, IMO.
 
I'm in, thanks OP - I have 5 computers that I use regularly for fun -- It'll be nice to have 100% legal versions of MS Office, Project and Vizio on all my systems. Not to mention Win 7.
 
I'm in. Been a while since I've had a copy of the devil's toolkit. I had been waiting for the 'next batch' of operating systems, etc. Not as complete as the old Universal MSDN subscription, but for almost two grand less, it has most of the bits I'm interested in.
 
What are the chances Microsoft repeats the $99 deal later this year?

Server 2008 R2 is the next release of Server 2008....its not out yet.

With Server, they do Major, minor, Major release schedule.

They had Server2003sp1/sp2etc....then they had server 2003R2,sp1....now we have 2008, and then we will have 2008R2.

Its the Win7 equivalent, whereas 2008 is the Vista equivalent.

It says 1/1/1900 for me too. How long does it take for them to confirm the registration? I've had it for a week already.:confused:
 
MS Technet is not Y2K compliant! :p

I think someone said 7/3. The code that lets you get 15 months instead of 12 is supposed to expire after 6/30 (unless they've extended it).

Its a great deal regardless... ive already made my money back.
I had two computers that needed Office 2007, they can cancel mine today and i cant be too upset.
 
In for one, as well. I've used the Action Pack before, and I've had this through employers before, but this is the first time I've ordered it for myself. MS-DOS and WFW 3.11!!! Woo-Hoo, might load it up and re-live the glory days...
 
My Technet is going to expire in September. If I buy this will it just extend my current subscription?
 
You already get $100 discount for renewing, you can't stack the coupon so it doesn't really matter. They were offering an extra 3 months for renewing at the normal $250 rate (not sure if its still valid). That's what I did a few weeks ago.
 
I'm in. Have been happy with XP 64 bit but with Win 7 around the corner and 3 pc's this makes a bunch of sense.

Traditionally technet subscribers gets things before the general public. I have also heard some rumors that technet subscribers may not get windows 7 until next year. Although, I find that rumor ridiculously hard to swallow.
 
That would be bullshit. That's the main reason I subscribed at all. It's basically already paid for itself with WHS and Office 2007 Ultimate though.

I'd love to know this as well, though I know the window for this coupon is quickly closing :(
 
It will be on TechNet after it goes RTM, that's all anyone needs to know. It won't be there the same day, or the day after. It might take a week, or two weeks, even three perhaps, but it will be there at some point, on TechNet and MSDN as well.

Sit tight, take a chill pill, and stop over-hyping this will ya... geez, folks getting all bent outta shape because it ain't done yet. PATIENCE!

I'm still considering whether to drop personal $$$ on this or not.

They've got my IT budget pretty cut back in this economy, lol :)
