I was looking at the 4650 or 4670, it seems i can get one for 75 bucks. I have a crossfire mobo and would buy a 2nd one later on. Would this be a good solution for 1680x1050 res on most games like the new COD or americas army 3?

For a hundred bucks you could get a 4870 on the forums here and it would do way better than 2 x 4670's.

I'll second this. Don't get anything less than a 4850 (and ideally a 4870) if you have a $100 budget. If you can squeeze $30-40 more, get a 4870 1GB.

I'd get a 3850 before I'd get a 4670 or 4650.

But if you can, yeah, 4850 or better would be best.

9800GT is also not a bad card in that price category.

i believe its a truepower II

The Truepower I and II series as well as the Smartpower series were well known for their above average death rates due to a poor choice in caps and cooling design. In more specific terms, Antec/CWT specified/used caps (Fuhjyyu caps) that did not respond well to heat. Unfortunately, Antec made the decision to have the PSU fan only ramp at really high temps in an effort to keep the PSU quiet. However, just medium to high temps were enough to screw up the caps so really high temps were murderous. Over time, this degraded the quality and performance of those PSU series.

So I recommend replacing the PSU, especially if you hear a squeal, whine, or any odd noise coming from the PSU. However, do note that the Truepower I and II series as well as the Smartpower series had a three year warranty. So if you do hear a squeal, whine, or any odd noise, that's enough grounds to RMA the PSU.

New - 4850, otherwise you should be able to pick up a 4870 2nd hand.

There was another thread so i'm a bit weary you might buy a Gtx 295.... :p

ive often heard this. Ive had this psu for about 5 years now and through several upgrades and ive never had a problem with it. maybe i got lucky with this one. I think it will power a stronger videocard fine, if not, i guess ill know when the crashes start.

If it's still working for you then you don't need to replace it. For 1680x1050 resolution a 4850/4870 or 5770 should be fine. On the Nvidia side there is the 9800GT, the GTS 250 and the GTX 260 216 edition.

+1 except for the 5770, you will not find a 5770 for less than 150.
