These numbers seem pretty high until you realize that this study is talking about the "threat" of revenge porn and the "10 million" number is extrapolated from a telephone survey of 3,000 internet users.

Based on a telephone survey of more than 3,000 internet users ages 15 and older, researchers found that about 3 percent have had someone threaten to post nude or nearly nude photos or videos of them online to hurt or embarrass them, and 2 percent have had someone post an explicit photo or video of them online without their permission.

Don't take or let people take naked pictures of you that you don't want other people seeing....it's simple as that.

I'm sure someone at the NSA has a huge database of nudes.

That's what I don't get. Maybe I'm more sensitive than the average American, but why on earth would you take, let alone keep, naked pictures of your SO? I just don't see the upside.

I've never taken, but have gotten a numerous thru texts (unfortunately not from my wife in many years :( ). At least the gals were all smart enough to keep their face out of it - not that I would ever do anything with it as anyone who does is the filth of the earth, but it's far too easy to snipe them these days.

Not all of the people filmed agreed to be filmed.

This is an era of cameras everywhere and cameras that can be hidden just about anywhere.

I don't get it either, but some people are sleaze, never underestimate a body that's grown up with no honour.

Who are all these people who take or allow to be taken pi tyres of themselves naked?

I know I'll never be the victim of revenge porn, because no such pictures have or ever will exist...

What kind of weird ass world to people live in where nude pics are the norm?

I'm 35 and I have, twice, come across pictures of females I knew in real life (pics, no vids). Information Age my friend......TMI.....TMI.

I have never been standing in front of a mirror and thought to myself "I think I need a picture of my junk just because" you know what I mean?

I don't understand people I guess.

This means more than 1 of 25 Americans have made home porn. I thought you guys were so prude and conservative, no nipples and so on? :D

I used to live in a distant relationship, this is one of the situations where you might want to have her pictures at *cough* hand. :D

My wife never allowed to take any pics and I can see she was (is) smart on that account.

I agree with the consensus about dont take them in the first place. Also dont date or go out with POS people. Do that second one, and alot of problems solved.

I don't really get the revenge part. I mean it's not as if the pr0n didn't exist before hand. It's more like revenge exposure.

Nothing wrong with getting hot pics of your girlfriend/boyfriend or wife/husband and it's been done way before the internet. It's up to the people providing them to understand the risks. Now if they were taken without permission or given to them then that's another story.

I'll tell you what - I'll threaten to show you a nudie of me. That's my form of revenge porn. You would need bleach to pour into your eyes after that horrific image.

I wouldn't count yourself short - there's a kink market for everything and anything. I'm sure there's a group of people who enjoy leering over naked computer hardware enthusiast bodies all day.
