I really can't tell the difference, it *may* be a bit harsher but it is only visible on totally white backgrounds and if I'm looking for it. Most of the monitors that I've had lately have had some kind of coating so I don't find it annoying, I probably got used to it, and I actually dislike very...
I got mine a couple of days ago. So far I like it very much. I had an asus pa238q for a few days but I returned. The backlight bleed on the right side was really bad. The dell is much more even, just a bit of IPS glow. And the difference between 16:9 and 16:10 is great for pretty much everything...
How about this one? I've been using it on most of my monitors without any problem, I like it that it has a gel-like consistency so it doesn't run.

The Asus PA246Q was another monitor that I considered but it was too much money for me. So I tried the PA238Q, but I found it too small, maybe the pixel size, I don't know. Anyway, how do you think the U2412M compares to the PA246Q? I'm not interested in the obvious technical differences like...
Hi,
I just ordered mine from Dell Canada. I had a nice chat with a sales rep and asked for an additional discount. I thought the worst that could happen is that they refuse. Lo and behold, I got an additional $30 discount so before taxes it came to $319. I couldn't pass up! So if you're...
Sorry you're right, 140 mm. I don't know where I left my head today. Here's my case:

Hi,
I want to replace the cheapo 14" fans that came with my case. They make too much noise. So I'd like to know what you recommend both in terms of volume of air pushed and noise levels. I know that some fans come with unusual blade shapes, or speeds, etc.
Thanks a lot!
Can it be that the power supply on your HP has active PFC and complains about the signal it receives from the UPS (non-sinusoidal)? I've read several complaints about brand-new Dells and HPs having similar issues on the APC user forum.
Thanks! I wonder if this common misconception (ATI=AMD, Nvidia=Intel, never shall the twain meet), often fueled by the manufacturers themselves, is hindering them more than helping them sell more cards. I can't be the only one that's confused by this? Anyway, thanks again for your advice.
Here are the specs:
Asrock M3A785GXH
AMD Athlon II X4 630
8Gb G-Skill DDR3
WD Caviar black 640 Gb
Samsung F3 1 Tb
Sony Optiarc DVD
Onboard Radeon HD 4200 video for now
Hi,
Please forgive my utter ignorance in this matter. I'd like to know if it's possible to run a GTX 460 on a AMD (asrock) mobo. My limited understanding is that AMD mobos should be paired with AMD (ATI) videocards and Nvidia with Intel, but seeing how a GTX 460 is cheaper and faster than a...
Argentina, the most horse meat? Are you kidding me? Whoever drew this chart had no idea what he/she was talking about. Cow meat, maybe. Horse, no way. We Argentinians would eat our mothers first, before eating horse meat.

I don't know what's more tragic, that a 6 year old drove to school, that he drove a Ford ;) or that his parents let him play those games that they themselves bought. BTW the original article that mentions GTA and Monster Truck Jam is still available here...
Hi, I bougth a HP Pavilion DV6120 about 2 years ago. It came with 1gb RAM (2x512). According to the manual and the less-than-useful HP technician that I chatted with, the maximum the laptop will take is 2 Gb. However, I'd like to know if anybody has been able to bump a similar laptop to 4gb...

I don't know how many times I've patched my Oracle 10g databases for this DST thing. Oracle keeps releasing patches that patch what they patched before. I'm fed up and will wait until March 10 to apply the latest patch available at the moment. I can't keep shutting down production because these...
Hi,
I posted this message in the overclocking forum yesterday but got no answers so I'm hoping someone will be able to answer here. I was wondering if there is a way to figure out the model number of an overclocked (or not) AMD processor. For example, the A64 +3700 runs at 11x200=2.2ghz. If I...
Hi,
Just wondering if there is a way to figure out the model number of an overclocked (or not) AMD processor. For example, the A64 +3700 runs at 11x200=2.2ghz. If I overclock to 11x250=2.750ghz, what does that make it? A +4200or so? I know that some models do not exist in the real world, such...
Does anyone have any idea where to get Opterons in Canada? I live in Ottawa, and nobody has them. Even a site that has them listed, has them marked as backordered now.
Thanks!
Hi guys,
Just a silly question, I was wondering if I can replace my trusty A64 3000+ with a new X2 (whenever they become available) just by dropping the new chip in or if I need to reinstall windows xp so it can see the two processors.
Thanks!
Gabriel.
Hello,
I'm connecting to the internet through a Linksys router configured to use pppoe. The mtu on the router has been set to 1492, as indicated in speedguide.net. Should I configure my PCs with the same mtu or should I keep it at 1500?
Thanks!
I had the same problems that you describe with a WMPG54GS and XP. I spent 3 days, trying to get the pci card to work on 4 different computers, running Win98SE, XP SP1, XP SP2. I even got a replacement card. I spent 4 hours on the phone with the Linksys technicians, they finally recommended that...
Hello,
Based on your suggestions, I went back to the standard IDE drivers that came shipped with windows xp and presto! no more cd-rom problems. I don't know what the heck is wrong with those nVidia drivers, it's a real shame they don't work if they're supposed to take some load off the cpu...
Alright, what are then the supposed advantages of using the nVidia ide driver? When you install them, it says something about "removing bottleneck on the ide channel" or something of the sort. You're saying that I'm better off without this driver i.e. going back to the default Windows driver...
