Hi all,
Patiently awaiting release of Devil's Canyon. I was able to snag three U2311H's super cheap a while back and would like to go Eyefinity (at least for a handful of games). I don't have a video card yet as I'm holding off on making a choice. My question is if I'm not playing overly...
I am about to have FIOS installed when I move into a new home. It seems that they provide a router. Can I not use my existing ASUS AC66U with it? I've read that if you even can, it's a pain? Are you better just sticking it out with the Verizon router?
Thanks guys.
Included is a used 30 inch monitor, Dell 3007WFP-HC.
The monitor is in perfect working order. There are no dead pixels to my eyes. I can't add attachments, I don't have the option below this box, so click the thumbnails please.
Price is $450 cash, local pickup, Philadelphia.
Thank you...
I'm honestly trying to off all of this in bulk. I'd probably be willing to do the video card separately and the cpu/mobo/ram together, but I'd prefer not to.
Sapphire HD7970 (reference design): $250
Intel i5-3570k + Asus P8Z77-V Pro + 8gb Corsair Vengeance RAM: $300 obo

I'm kind of itching for an upgrade and don't really care if the net performance with Haswell is ~7% or so. I know it seems silly for anyone to upgrade now instead of just waiting a month, but in any event, is there any evidence or belief that Haswell will be a much better overclocker than Ivy...
i7 920 @ 3.8GHz
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R (original version)
GTX 260 core 216
Dell 3007WFP
The config is a little weird esp since the video card is way under what I'd like for the size of my monitor, but I grabbed the motherboard the day they were released online when i7 went live.
My...

PRO:

Mild Sandy Bridge overclocking and just general gaming use, should I really wait for the pro to come in stock or should I jump on the LE?
Thanks...
Strangely there has been quite an amount of 260 related threads lately so I apologize in advance
I am kind of an nvidia fanboy and I don't really want to go SLI, but I'm looking for an upgrade from a 260. It is still sufficient for what I play with my PC(i7 @ 3.8GHz) but at my...
I have a triple channel kit of 6GB OCZ Gold that I bought when i7's were released, the model number is OCZ3G1600LV2G. I've heard on various forums that there was either compatibility issues with it or it was mis-rated by OCZ when it was made. It always registered as 1066 RAM in my BIOS and...
Long story short, I am interested in pursuing a wireless backup type storage drive that I could keep in my home in a separate room not located by my computer. I am also interested in installing(I didn't even know this was possible until I researched it) a camera that will record and store the...
I have heard this recommended, but is it for stability issues or just removing variables while trying to establish stability?
Once you stress test long enough at whatever settings and deem it stable, can you then turn power saving features back on? Or does it matter at all?
Just FYI, I'm...
Current setup:
-i7 920 @ 3.4GHz w/ volts under 1.3, I'm @ work atm so I can't give exact numbers off hand(but I believe I'm around 1.265)
-temps at full load with prime are 71ish
-cooler is a Noctua NH-U12P(original version)
-hyperthreading is on, mobo is a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R, RAM is...
I have Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R and obviously an i7.
With my Vcore at 1.3 I had BCLK at 166 and was totally happy(and stable, or so I thought) with that setting. My QPI is at 1.3 and ram at 1.66. I also had the PLL around 1.8-1.9 and my issue continued to happen.
With those settings, for...
I settled for a modest i7 920 overclock of 166BCLK with Turbo on, so I sit at 3.5Ghz roughly. My vcore is 1.275.
My TDP went from the "stock" 130watts to 147.3watts. I am ASSUMING this is normal, but I'd like to double check to make sure I don't need to adjust a setting or something...
I original thought this problem was a noisy PSU and perhaps a bad case of coil whine (I have a BFG MX-680), but it turns out it runs deeper. If I move my mouse around, the VERY moment I start to move my mouse, a very low but audible noise that sounds like a 56k modem connecting emits from my...
I just got my GTX 260 in the mail, and there this little insert of instructions on how to connect HDMI. I have a DELL 3007 and I was using Dual Link DVI to hook it up to my old crappy video card while I wait to build my new system.
Is there any diff between HDMI/ DL DVI?
I see that most people with higher end systems stray away from modular PSU's, and the vast majority of recommendations here are not modular units.
Is it the situation that as long as you have a decent case with a bottom mounted PSU, the reduced amount of cables is simply overrated? Or is it...
I am prepping for an i7 upgrade so I am piecing off parts of my old system...
I just received a freshly RMA'd PSU from BFG, it is 650W. This is the model:

First the questions:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mild gaming, and general PC use. Music, movies, and lots of WoW and other big titles. Not planning on trying to max out Farcry or Crysis.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included...
I was looking at a few diff cases, including the CM 690, the Stacker 830 and the HAF932.
For some reason, this case sticks out:

I probably would not take the plunge due to the price if it did not have superior build quality...
Is there really no way around spending $200 or so on RAM for the i7 920?
I am putting together an i7 setup, and the cheapest RAM I have found that is at least a reputable brand and seems pretty good is this:

I am in the midst of prepping for a virtual overhaul of my PC. On the list is a new monitor, as I am using a 19'' Samsung ginormous CRT.
My uses will be mostly general PC use(music/movies/internet), and gaming but nothing in terms of first person shooters. I have heard that the Dell...
For over a year now at random, but mostly while gaming, my PC will go black retain sound for about 1 second, and then, the monitor will kind of stay blank until I hit the reset button. It almost looks as if I rebooted it, but that obviously isn't what happened. I've ran all 3 tests in prime...
My gf jus got a 24" iMac and it's fantastic, but I tried playing WoW on it and while it runs reasonably well, the system gets incredibly hot. I was messing with the video settings while flying and it froze on me, although I am not sure it was due to a heat related issue, it does raise cause for...
I am way overdue for a monitor upgrade in terms of how long I've had it. It is a 19'' Samsung CRT that I've had for probably over six years. It is ginormous, it weighs like 60lbs. It works perfectly fine but I am not exactly sure if I should make the jump to 24'' or larger when my PC is as...
Girlfriend just got a 24'' iMac, and although every aspect of it is awesome, does anyone have any tips for getting DVD playback to look better?
Is there any particular program that is the best for this? I was using the default DVD playback program that comes with OSX, and I saw some setting...
My girlfriend is purchasing a 24'' iMac soon and were just ironing out the details.
From the perspective of someone who is going to be watching movies, listening to music and just doing the stuff girls do on a Mac (probably running Parallels too), is the upgrade to 4gb of RAM from the base...
I pulled the .movs off my camera, and one of the files was like a half a second video whcih was supposed to be deleted, and the other was a 120mb+ video that I recorded.
Well, when the file is run, it is the half second clip I meant to delete, with the file size of the longer clip. Are...
I have done installs of my copy of XP(the upgrade) from a fresh hard drive before.
Can I install an "upgrade" copy of Home Premium on a blank hard drive?
I don't game much anymore but am contemplating getting back into it. I have a x2 3800 OC'd to 2.4GHz and 2GB of Crucial RAM.
What I am wondering is if I were to get one of the new 8800GT's, would I be limited severely by my processor? Thoughts?
I have around 1300-1500 to do this. I am a little out of the loop on the hardware scene, it has been a while...and I have never owned an Intel based system so bear with me.
I am looking at this right now:
Mobo: ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU...
Games look fine, but for whatever reason movie playback on my 32'' 720p/1080i does not look crisp AT ALL, and does not look anywhere near like 720p or 1080i resolution. Does the 360's movie dvd playback just suck or am I missing something?
I have a 939 x2 3800 @ 2.5 right now. I am not a gamer, so should I just be happy with that and stfu? Or is there another cpu out there that would give me a huge performance increase if I oced it?
I ordered 1.5gb of ram for my KN8-SLI and I already had a stick of 512 that was double sided. I don't game much, so I just got Corsair Valueselect of the 1.5gb ram that I bought. It is all single sided. Needless to say, I can't run it in dual channel because of the way my motherboard is set...
By this I mean is there anyway for a partition on my hard drive to be seen as PhysicalDrive1, whereas my primary partition is PhysicalDrive 0. Is that possible? Both are seen as PhysicalDrive0
I don't game much anymore, but right now I am on a :
Venice OCed to 2.4GHz(its stable to higher but see my ram)
512mb valueselect corsair ram
Gfx card is a 7600gs so itd run vista fine
After shipping costs, for around $600 , I can get a x2 3800 for 118 bucks, 2ghz of Mushkin XP for...
I know there is alot of driver and performance issues with x64 as it stands right now, but in the future, will x64 be faster/better(sorry for such elementary words, lol), than x86. Also, if I get 32bit now, is there any way I can upgrade to x64 without buying a whole new copy? Thanks in advance
