Even funnier for a cisco person to continue to use that terminology.
:p

Boss: FunkStart is our top Cisco guy. He currently controls our network that 50,000+ employees use every workday.
Boss: So FunkStar... what do you recommend for our server upgrade?

Excellent question.
I would be in the market for a 1U rackmount chassis, mobo, processor (either 1 or 2), misc cables, heatsink(s), power supply. Everything else I have laying around the house.
$600-$700 bucks, or lower sounds like a fair amount for the above items. Like I said, this...
I was looking into building a 1U rackmount server. It doesn't have to be state of the art/total redundant server. The case is pretty much taken care of... but i'm having trouble picking out a decent mobo. Would anyone here be able to point me in the correct direction? It will either be a single...
Ahhh you rock! The first link doesn't seem to work at the moment. Servercase.com has exactly what i'm looking for. Ok, that problem is sovled..
Next problem is those darn motherboards. Makers INSIST on stacking their onboard audio vertically. :(
Which reputable sites sell 1U rackmount chasis?
I checked Newegg and Directron and rackmount.com and nothing really interested me. Was wondering if anyone here had any sites that they ordered from. Thanks!
My current machine is a 1.5 ghz AMD 1800+, with 768MB DDR Ram. The main video card is a GeForce4 Ti4400 and there is also a Number 9 128 series 8MB card (cheapy one :P).
I currently have two monitors hooked to the geforce4 card with no problems at all. I put the number9 card in and Windows...
Dell Dimension 4100
933 Mhz
256MB Ram
40GB HD
And some generic cheap video card. The first one (GeForce 2) burnt out. I just needed a cheap one to get going again before I started using remote.
Although i'm not sure why I need to post system specs.. it's either going to get past...
I would do that, however it would be a lot of work to move the computer out and remove it and put it in my main computer to have it not work. I'd rather get a yes or no answer first.
As it stands now, I have a computer that is located in my closet. I use Remote Desktop Connection to actually use the machine. I have an extra monitor sitting around that I would like to use.
My question is, if I remove the video card from the computer... will it still POST and go into...
Anyone work for IBM or have had a similar experience?
I'm a current IBM stockholder. Due to this, I can get a IBM laptop for a discount. Although, a relative of mine works at IBM. Would it be possible at all to combine both deals to get a cheap laptop? Or is the employee discount better than...
