I have heard of port forwarding, but am not sure how to proceed. None of the apps or programs mentioned port forwarding, but it makes sense. Is this something I need change in my router config? Which ports need to be forwarded?
I am able to get my Android phone, my iPad, and my laptop to wake my desktop computer as long as I am home within my home network. I have tried a few apps and software to allow wake on WAN (wake my laptop using an internet connection from outside my home network), but none will work. All...
I just moved to an appt that only has wireless. What do i need to connect my desktop? My ipad is veeeery slow, so need something (for my desktop) that will receive or boost a weak signal.
I have a video card and a hardware raid card with one empty slot between them. I would like to find a PCI card cooler that will take the heat from the two cards and exhaust it out the end of the card. Anyone know of such a thing?
I was able to get this to work. However, I used arcHTTP (browser) to set pass-through, then rebooted. Now, during post, the bios raid disk IS FOUND. Then in the browser again, I am able to set RAID 0 and reboot. Still have a few questions:
1) Is this normal? That is, having to set...
I was able to get pass-through to work, but not raid set. Here is the message I sent to Areca tech support.
I am not able to see my raid set in Windows. Here is what I have done (brand new 1882ix-12):
Install card and 2 HDD's
Add SCSIPORT via Device Manager.
Boot into McBios and set...
I just got a 1882ix-12 and just set it up. the card is recognized during post and it sees my two drives. I would like to set the drives up as just regular drives. I tried to use pass-through, but the drives are not recognized after Win7-64 boots up. I suspect I have not set the pass-through...
I would like to get a loaner card of each (with LSI CacheCade and 4GB of mem for the Areca) and do some exhastive testing. After that, I would return the cards, then buy the one that performs the best.
Which card (1882i or 9265) would work better for Raid 5 used for video editing large 15-20GB files?
The other option would be to use Raid 3, which means only the Areca supports that raid level.
I have been thinking of getting one of these also. As I understand it, both use the same ROC chip, both have 1 GB of cache memory. The Areca can be upgraded to 4GB which gives it the edge for cache size. However, the LSI has available CacheCade which uses SSD's as cache. The SSD's are slower...
I will be adding an Areca ARC-1882ix-12 in a few weeks and want to use four each 500GB drives with it. Any suggestions as to which drives will work well with the raid card? I have heard that some WD drives will stop working, killing the array. I was actually thinking of using WD 1TB Black...
I have the manual, but the problem is it's not much help. That is, it lists all the options, and there are quite a few options, but there is no description of what each item does. It only lists the choices - like ENABLE, DISABLE.
These are used parts from an old build that was about 20 months old. I have links to the original supplier and am willing to negotiate pricing.

Is there an overclocking guide for this motherboard? I have an Asus P9X79 Pro and the rest of my hardware is listed in my sig.
I use my computer for video editing and with a mild overclock (130 x 33 = 4.2 GHz) I get crashing when transcoding (100% cpu load). I can run Prime95 for 2 hours...
Updated SIG.
I was using Premiere Pro CS5 at the time of crash.
This is a new build, but it has been working fine for 4 weeks or so - PPro included.
I was NOT able to get into BIOS before flash attempt.
I do not have any spare parts to use for testing - I wish I did have some!
A new circuit...

I have posted this in a separate message before I saw this thread. My P9X79 has been working for a few weeks and now will not boot at all. It crashed and I saw a BSOD, but not long enough to read any of it. I have tried pushing the CMOS reset...
Sorry, I just updated my sig. It is indeed a new build and it has worked for about 3 weeks without a hitch. Then the other day it just quit (see my original post). The MB has a feature called USB Bios Flashback. You put a USB stick with the Bios Rom file into a specific USB port, then push a...
I had just opened my video editing program when the computer crashed, and I saw the blue screen and then the computer quit. The BSOD went so fast, I could not read any of it. Now the computer will not boot at all. It acts like it will boot, but the only thing that happens is that the case...
Using an Asus P9X79 MB with i7 3930K. When I boot into bios, the keyboard and mouse work just fine, but when I try to boot into Windows, the mouse and KB do not work. Both are USB type. Also, I insert a USB pendrive and the bios sees those without issue. What am I missing?
If you mounted the PS at the top, there might be enough room at the bottom. Not positive about that, but the case is quite large and it comes with the option of mounting the PS at the top or bottom. At the bottom there is a filter just below where the PS is and one a bit to the right.
Then what is 04 used for?
Then what is 14 used for?
Also, which type would give a better a raid set? The Marvel or Intel and do I load the drivers at Windows 7 install? Which ones are the Intel drivers?
Sorry for all the questions, but I didn't do this correctly the last time and I...

I just ordered an X79 motherboard and a i7 3930K and the Corsair H100. I have a Coolermaster ATCS 840 case that has 2 large fans at the top of the case and was wondering if I should mount the H100 radiator there? If so, should I remove the 2 case fans? Also, saw some videos on YouTube of how...
Can I use the SSD Caching ports (on the P9X79) to connect hard drives to? I would like to use them in a raid 0. Can I also assume that the MB comes with a raid driver that I can add using a USB stick or CD?
I am planning to upgrade to a X79 MB and really like Asus boards. The two I am looking at are the P9X79 Pro and the Sabertooth X79. I have looked at the two on the Asus website, but find it difficult to swap back and forth. It would be nice if they had a comparison chart. Anybody have a...
