It may be faster to boot, but once you're in it's going to be 2-4x longer to do anything because of the way they reorganized things. If they don't put back the option to enable the Start Menu it's going to turn into Vista 2.0 and make Win7 the son of XP for longevity.
Doing some testing on some software, I set the "Must use smartcard for interactive logon" attribute on my account to enabled. Did the required testing and then unchecked the box. I'm not unable to authenticate against OWA or any of our web services. Any ideas as to why this seems to be stuck...
Think the board is going. Came down this morning and the it wouldn't come back from power saving mode and a push of the reset button on the case didn't do anything. Powered down and back up and it's fine...seen this before on a Shuttle box, eventually even the power off didn't work....gonna...
Ok, too strange. Finally got to start seriously troubleshooting. First thing was disconnect the IDE cables and try to start it up....fired right up. So even though they weren't powered the DVD drives were somehow locking the system up...
thanks for the help

Hi,
I'm trying to solve a problem, I came down this morning to find the computer was still powered up but there was no video and couldn't bring it back from power saving mode.
Restarted the system and the video stayed blank and one of the DVD drive units activity lights was lit up and...
They keep upping the speed. Quite happy with it for C$37/month. They've got a 10 and 16meg service now available but it's $70/$100, can't quite justify it. Trying hard too though :p
NewEgg is great but they still won't ship up to Canada for some reason. So I guess go with the 850 since it's got 16 pipelines instead of the 12 in the 800XL
Currently have a 9500 modded to a 9700 in my shuttle box. I don't want to buy a whole new system at this point so I'm looking at grabbing a AGP card to prolong it's life a bit.
Found two ATI cards but I'm not sure which is the better model. One is a Radeon® X800 XL AGP 256MB D/V/VIVO...
When I upgraded my 3200+ for a x2 3800+ it sat on the shelf for a while. It had been stable in the Shuttle up to about 235 FSB. Drop it into an A8N-E and a regular case and now it's happily folding along at 244.....love AMD!
Did that with my shuttle box moving from the 3200+ to the X2 3800+. Scary moment there until I verified that I didn't leave any pins in the socket. Working just fine now
Do you have another OS, Win2000 or god forbid 98 floating around. Try the install with that, if it still craps out them you've definately got a hardware issue rather then some funky drivers problems.
You can grab the needed flash program from the Shuttle FTP site. One of the versions should be a Windows flash version.
Also did you grab the latest nVidia drivers from the website?
Works like a charm, just upgraded from a 3200+ to the x2 3800+ last night.
If you ever have to upgrade, be careful when removing the heatsink, mine was so stuck to the CPU that it pulled it right out of the socket, while the socket was locked
Thankfully nothing broke
You can grab...
Hi,
Is it possible with Win2003 Server to restrict the extenstions that can be saved on a network share? We'd prefer to have .jpg, .bmp etc restricted on one of our shares that should only be for short term use.
It's a HP MSA1500 SAN running on 2003 Storage Server.
Just got an email back from a friend, happened to him to when he was rebuilding another friends shuttle box (same model as mine). They ended up with a few bent pins but got it working.
Holy cow! Now I don't feel so unlucky, lol.
Heat's a little high on the new chip, think I'll remove the AS5 and redo it with regular paste so I can get better coverage. Couldn't spread the AS very well.
...you think you've just went a little further then you had planned? We'll I just managed to sqeek through undamaged or more specifically my shuttle socket did.
Was in the process of getting everthing out to install my new X2 3800+ all going well until I try to remove the ICE heatsink. It's...
