Read the title....my friend told me that and i didnt beleive him. Thought id ask here before i did. I told him that the sempron was just a low end market cpu because they only had high and mid end. He also told me a that a socket 754 sempron would beat any athlon...which i doubt. Let me know...
if its pci-e then getting an x800 would be a BIG mistake....why do that when you can later on buy an sli mobo and another 6800gt and run in sli???doube the performance???this means itll last FAR FAR FAR longer than the x800 would....id only consider an x800 if its agp...
yes, but did yours also emit a funny smell? I doubt it, it probably smelled like rotten eggs, and thats what burning silicon smells like. Im pretty sure he just fried it.
I pretty much agree with this guy, however if its PCI-E go with the 6800gt, you can eventually buy another (and a new mobo if yours isnt compatable right now) and use SLI in the future. This will help your comp. last ALOT longer. If its agp x800xt.
the only difference between an fx-53 and an fx 55 is 200mhz whoopidity doo, as powerful as the cpu is 200mhz isnt going to be a tremendous difference, and definitly not a 300$ one
well...that should be enough watts, considering it an antec... i dont have a 6600gt...but im running a 6800gt on a 430watt antec...and i HAD it running a POS 350watt before...so i seriously doubt thats it...
the only complaint i had about gainward was their expertool didnt work unless you ran THEIR drivers...and they were always like 2 drivers behind nvidias....
i read most of all that, but not all..so sry if this was already covered. Did you try flashing the x800s bios?? maybe its a bad bios...also see if the heatsink is on...if its not even touching it might be over heating in a second...these are just ideas cause im stumped...also are you grounded...
the problem lies in, how many people would think they know how, and really dont. Or would screw it up and want them to replace it. It would pretty much ruin the company...theyd be replacing cards all the time. Its like having someone fix your car, now they all SAY they are mechanics...but how do...
water cooling in the end transmits the heat into the air...which is room temperature...therefore its impossible to get the temps below room temp, without other means.
what do u think the OC stands for :p
it means that its Over Clocked 20 mhz UNDER WARRANTY...now 20mhz is nothing to get excited about on ANYTHING, but its under warranty, so it doesnt hurt :)
BFGs 2 fan HSF blows balls from i hear. bgh, evga, leadtek, xfx are prolly the your best bet. i have an evga GT and as was said earlier, it just screams high quality. I love it to death. Leadteks warrant is shakey i hear but their hsf is MONSTROUS.
your mobo has to support it, and u have to have them in the right slots to enable it. Download cpu-z (im too lazy to link you so just google it) and it will tell you.
socket 939 3200+ is only like 200$ and the 3500+ is arounf 260$ add 120$ or so for a new mobo..tahts not a bad price for that power ful of cpus....you wont need a 3800+ or fx-53 to not be bottlenecked...pretty much any s939 cpu is powerful enough not to.
lol, all you guys are giving him suggestions on how to fix it. Imho hes just trying to start a discussion / flame war because it is a physical impossibility to play far cry at those settings with ANY cpu on that card. That and the fact even at low resolutions with high cpu limition the 6800...
