well theres a difference between broadband and baseband. two bridged NICs won't increase your "download" speed. if you read that site, it'll increase your speed if you do heavy lan and internet traffic, it'll seperate them. but a bridged network will not increase your bandwidth.
if you can still connect to the router after manually putting in your IP, then there's something screwy in your box. 169.254 normally means its not getting dhcp packets (connect between router/computer is wacked) or it might be that your router's settings are fubar and its doing something crazy...
call me crazy, but isn't icq part of the trillian bundle? i'd agree in that the trillian people might know what port to forward, since ya know, it's in their little wonderful program. its obviously the port icq needs, but if ya paid for trillian pro and it uses icq, then i think they'd have a...
are internal or external wireless adapters better? does it make a difference in signal strength? and how poor of wireless reception does it have to be to make a difference in throughput? do people walking thru the path change performance? there'd be no "clear sight" paths between router and...
Alright two questions:
Moving into an apartment soon, and I need a networking solution that doesn't involve stringing cables up. The apartment expands upwards; it's 3 stories, 3 bedroom. So it's not a very wide apartment, just spreads up instead of out. Getting SBC DSL. Got 3 machines to hook...
So if you're rebuilding an old computer and you don't wish to mount the cdrom drive and hdd, make SURE that when you go to eject the cdrom that the drive is NOT upside down after playing with jumpers. Otherwise, evil things happen, like discs becoming stuck IN the drive. Needless to say, I...
might wanna try winsock fix, if you cant use the dns name to ping. i've seen this countless times on dorm computers where i work. ad-aware or spybot have a winsock fix, either works fine. just something else to check
wow, ok. so then refurb whats good. i'm just looking for some pendable brands or an idea. even up to $900?
i knew there was a reason i hated laptops haha
Alright, my girlfriend is looking for a new laptop. $600-800 price range. I'm a desktop man, but know you guys know what's up. She doesn't game on it, it'd just be for school etc, but I want the most durable, longest battery life, and best built so I don't hafta fix it, I'm busy enough as is. So...
Alright, looking to upgrade my Midiland S4 4060 2.1 speakers to something a little better. Got an Audigy 1 card upped on the ZS drivers, and I'm looking for a good speaker set, either 4.1 or 5.1. Trying trudging thru Cnet.com's reviews but all their prices are outta wack. I wanna shoot for...
ahh good point. i believe i found the culprit, slow media. i didn't realize that if you did a copy, the write speed was limited by the slower of the two discs (in this case, i was reading in a 2.4x and writing out a 4x, found it baffeling that it'd hafta write at 2.4x). good reference tho, the...
I formatted the memory card on my digital camera (uses xD cards). I wanted to know if theres a way to recover the previous pictures (haven't taken any new pictures yet). Figured this was the best place to go to, since Le Google didn't help.
I use an awesome program called TweakXP (pro version). It has lots of hardware and software specific tweaks, and it's straight forward and easy to use interfacing. Haven't tried any guides yet tho. My 2 cents
Recently had a problem with my hdd going MIA in a little Dell I had sitting around. Had to take out IDE cable, bootup, get the "no operating system found", then plug the IDE cable in again and boot up to glorious hard drive workage. found it quite odd and stowed that away in the databanks
i bought a lite on LDW-851 and it's supposed to be an 8x writer. However, the only options I get on 6.3 NERO is 2.4x. Is there a way to check the speed that you can write max at, and could there be a reason why it's not burning as fast? This is the burning speed it gave me even before I put...
I want to remove the Northbridge fan on my NF7-S to reapply some better thermal paste. it's got these "pushy buttony springy screw things", however when i try to push them in and remove the fan, the fan doesnt come off. am i missing a wiggling step? thanks
Yeah, 600 MHz is just like the BIOS default. Crank to 200 x 10 or so, and if she reboots or powers off, give her some more cpu voltage. Install your OS and get prime95. Now you begin the game of cranking her as high as she'll go. The FSB will depend on your RAM and how much it'll take. Keep...
Yeah, I got a Thermalright 947U with a YS-Tech 92mm fan. Gets great temps. Got 200x13 at 2.6 GHz and it's a very nice 48 idle 56 load temp. Works good for me.
