The drivers I installed came with the card. It is Windows XP home edition, SP 2. I have updated windows completely. I tried it before and after the update, same results. I just noticed that I had an error report after it shut itself down(unbeknownst to me) saying there is a driver problem...
I originally posted this in the vid card section, but know I am getting the same error message when trying to update the chipset drivers. I thought I would go ahead and seek an answer here, too:

I just put together a new computer for a friend of mine. I have put a few computers together before, and never had any problems. This is the first one I've put together in a year and a half. I got everything installed and up and running.yesterday. Asus A8N-SLi board, A64 3500 CPU, 1G Patriot...
I just posted this combo on another thread. I'll put it up again because it's a good setup, especially for the money.

The mobo
Total shipped to you is $229.99.
I just set my sister up with a s754 setup. For a mobo and cpu it comes out to 220 plus shipping. It was a Chaintech VNF3-250 and a A64 3000+. It's faster than my Barton 2500+ at 3200 speeds. I am jealous. I would suggest spending the extra $30 and going a64. Price v. performance you are better...
Opteron is for the server and workstation market. The FX series are the top of the line home user CPU, badass but expensive. Regular Athlon64 is the mainstream CPU.
I posted in the mobile computing forum but got no response. Just a quick question. The DVD-ROM in my wife's Acer Travelmate 290 just stopped reading discs. It spins, but thats it. Can I put in any DVD drive designed for notebooks? Will it work? We are taking leave in two days and have a long...
My wife has a Acer Travelmate 290 notebook. We are going on leave in two days and have a long drive ahead of us. She wanted to bring the computer to watch DVD's. I put a DVD in the drive today, and it won't read it. It spins the disc, but it won't read anything. The warranty expired a month ago...
I have had no problems getting the game to play. No problems with lag and I get a pretty good ping in game. I think the game is allright, but I've never been a huge fan of deathmatch-style games. I played for a while to see how it was. I will probably play a little more but am waiting with...
Yeah, it happens to me. It started when I was playing Day of Defeat, then started happening almost every time HL2 crashes, now after HL2 released, it does it in CS:S sometimes. I'm starting to think the audio stuttering for some people is actually a steam problem, since CS crashed the other day...
I want to go with a 3500+ 90nm CPU. Which one of these boards will work with the 90nm chip right out of the box? Later down the road I will want to overclock, but for now I want it to work and be stable. If all of these will work out of the box no problem, it will come down to a performance and...
Just got off work and noticed a lot more replies. Thanks guys/gals!
Why move away from more L2 cache? I thought the more the better? Am I mistaken?Does the A64 Hyper Transport and on die mem controller not require the extra cache?
So which board to get for the 939 90nm? I need something with a PCI lock cause I will overclock at some point. Also, are they going to release a 1MB L2 proc? Would it make a large difference?
What heatsinks are good performers? Don't know a whole lot bout A64 heatsinks. The price isn't a big deal. My wife is going to be deploying in a couple months and will be making fat bank. She said I can get new toys to play with and won't be pissed! :D
My current setup:
XP2500 @ 2.2G, 1gig corsair xms,A7N8X-E mobo, x800pro w/16 pipes
Wondering if I am going to see a big difference going to an A643000+ or 3200+ from my current rig. Would I be better off going with the 90nm 939 over a 130nm 939 or a socket 754? I want to see a large...
Just curious, what the serial number is on the top panel of your box? Mine modded fine and the S/N starts with 630431. Trying to figure out what S/N's are turning out to be VIVO so my friend will know which one to get.
Use it stock (with maybe a little OC :D ) from the manufacturer for one month at least before you flash. If it lasts a month you probably won't have any problems with it down the road. Sapphire, along with others, started cutting the traces on the chip to disable four pipes after the XT flash...
I don't claim to be an expert or antthing, but I think you would be able to fit a waterblock in between the cards. You wouldn't have the massive fan or heatsink on the card anymore. I'm sure the aftermarket could/would fab a waterblock with fittings coming out the side of the block. I think...
I've done some research but I am looking for more info. This is an expensive purchase. I haven't tried reage3d, nut I'll check it out now. People's comments and this kind of info is what I am looking for. Thanks!
Oh yeah, anybody heard any bad things about the HIS IceQ X800XT? I'm leaning...
I am looking for the pros of getting the x800 and how owners feel it compares to the GT. I don't have any experience with these cards, that's why I'm looking for info. If you don't want to add anything helpful, don't post.
Talk me into it. Should I go with an X800XT shipped to my door for $500? Or should I get the Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample for $434 at door? I will mostly be playing HL2 and it's mods when it comes out, and I don't care about D3 performance. DX9 is more important to me, and I can't find anything...
Yeah, the card seems to get good reviews. Does anyone have a link or anything showing improvements in DX9 apps. I don't want to get HL2 only to find out that my new 6800GT won't run it worth a shat!
Which 6800GT is the better deal? A Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample for ~$430 shipped or Leadtek A400 GT(6800GT) for ~$405 shipped? Which will be the better performer? I am leaning toward the Gainward performance wise.
Good to know. I'm starting to lean towards a Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample. Any toughts on these? I would still like to hear some more on 6800 performance in DX9.
Thanx guys (and/or gals)!
Yes! I have already done a search and could not find an answer.
Here's the deal:
Current specs:
A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo, 2500XP @ 2.2G, 1G Corsair ram, 9600xt.
I am in the market for a new vid card. I am debating between a HIS Excalibur x800 Pro VIVO or a X800XT (non PE) from another...
If I was going to drop 200 on a vid card I would get this:

There is a connect3d 9800pro for 3 bux cheaper but I don't know about their quality. I've never heard anything bad about MSI, though. I've had both the...
I have had both, and neither were very good. They are both okay for older games like HL or CS. But I would suggest he saves his money for something better. If he is interested though, I have both and will sell him either for cheap. :D
That sucks having to pay sales tax on internet orders. Glad I don't have any places I would order from here in NM. This part of the state REALLY sucks. I hate that I got stationed here. Gonna be moving soon, though! :D :D :D
I am a crew chief on F-16s, and believe me there is a quality difference. There is also a difference between aircraft quality and MIL SPEC aircraft quality. It all depends on what the material is designed for. There are huge differences in strength and tolerances between parts and material for a...
