jeff before we go any farther ,if you have an ATI video card by default windows will try to use the HD audio over HDMI see the pic and make sure your using the proper settings

is it turned on in the bios? try clear cmos/reset-? If it is bad it may be cheaper to put in a cheap pci soundcard as opposed to RMA shipping etc.

I have this cooler mounted on my M3A78-T it mounts up/down ,my antec300 has an exhaust fan directly above it so I did not try to mount otherwise. It is a very good little cooler keeps this 550be under 40 at all times

if you are using an ATI video card(possibly onboard ati video also) you need to change the sound device in the control panel....mine says ATI high definition audio device(this needs to read Not plugged in) Speakers..should say realtek HD audio device(set this to default device) xp win7

667 in cpu-z = 1333mhz effective clock.Find the ram settings in the bios and change it to 800 make sure the timings and voltage are set properly or it may not boot. Cool and quiet has no effect on memory speed ,it changes the cpu multi.

M4A89GTD pro won't boot with two Geforce 7900's The m4a89gtd is a crossfire(ati) board ,kinda surprised it wont boot.But sli is a no go.

Need the model number &socket type socket754 they only made single core socket 939 yes it will take dual core,They made Nforce chipset for 754/939 and AM2 the model number will be printed on the board near or between the pci slots.

I have bought a couple used boards here on Hard Forum......Both were fair deals and both are still running. Generally I buy new unless it is not availible or overly expensive(939),just use common sense and buy from reputable traders.

Check the default voltage in the bios,your board may be overvolting the proc causing the high temps. If it is on auto try manually setting the volts.
