Just kidding about the pictures your monitor is awesome, its nice to see that model in all its glory rather than a picture on a web site. BTW good pics I know how hard it is to get a good pic of an LCD, exposure, reflections etc....
Is there much of an image quality hit at lower resolution...
An AC motor like a fan can do this from quite far away. There is a company out there somewhere on the web that sells copper mesh which blocks EMI, It looks ugly wrapped around your monitor but it does solve the problem.
Don't you know that if mxpxrulzz has a problem with something then the whole world will have the same problem. He is a fortune teller for all monitors sold by Dell. He "is" the authority on all monitors now.
Hail to the monitor God mxpxrulzz , all Dell 2001fp's must be flawed...
Don't know what Dells official policy is but I only had about 2 bad pixels in middle of screen and they took it back. Now I have zero defective pixels. Reading these forums it seems I am lucky. Some have returned multiple times and have gotten even worse monitors. Can't complain though after...
If Linux is so great, why after all these years is the majority of the populous not using it? Good God its even free, and still not mainstream.
Huh huh, nuf said.
My first one had 2 dead pixels right in the middle, I tried it for a couple days. The dead pixels were "eye magnets". I could not help but see them all the time. Hell for that price I want perfection regardless of the normal amount of bad pixels. Thats why I chose Dell because of the good return...
Back lighting issues suck. But is it so bad you notice it during normal windows and game play use? If not who gives a Rats A@# . Now if it were a stuck pixel in the middle of the screen then yup thats a real problem!
At 1600 x 1200 Far Cry with AA is much sweeter on my 1600 x 1200 native LCD. So yes it does make a difference. Who would have thought at that high of a res it would matter, but it does on the larger monitors!
I am sure you will have all kinds of eye candy settings to play with. You might have to turn it down a bit. But if DOOM does not cater to the average computer user sales will plummet and you know they won't want that!
No worries I bet you will be playin without the slide show effect at native res.
Well that sucks, but is your fault not the manufacturer
Guess your operating sytem does not have a screensaver? Why should it be a warranty? If you put your car in neutral with the engine running and hold down the gas pedal all the way until the engine blows you think that should be warranty...
A picture is worth a thousand words! The picture tells me what I need to know despite the one half micron degree angle difference. Talk about splitting hairs people!. The guy has both cards to evaluate. Can anyone else talk from that kind of experience here?
Great Job as always guys!
39 here, My first "RIG" was a computer made by commodore called the "PET" I then upgraded to the VIC 20 then the 64. The floppy drives back then were more expensive than the PC. I now upgrade about every year and a half on the Video card, and every Ghz on the processor side of things.
My first...
Umm!!!!!!!!!!! Are you the hardware/software master. Are you an engineer at Nvidia or ATI? Who asked for your uneducated and unsubstantiated opinion in the first place. Super Troll? If you look around on this forum there is more than enough benchmarking proof that ATI puts the smack down on...
I could not find any, some one did recommend using a sheet of Acetate cut to size it should stick on its own with static. Have not tried it yet. You would think with all the LCD monitors on the market they would have come up with something by now. Heck PDA's have them why not LCD's
I noticed that with my 9700 pro, it is non existent with my 800XT are you running off the DVI connector, and do you have the inf files for the monitor loaded or does windows think it is a plug and play monitor. I think its more video card related than monitor, from my experience. Try a different...
On the other hand who gives a rats ass, lets enjoy it and quit whining. If you cant afford one then go crawl back in your little home and cry to yourself.
So basically what your saying is you expect Dell to let you borrow a monitor for a 6 month evaluation period. And you did't notice any of these problems when you first got it. Come on I think you know the answer to your question!
If I am going to be taking up extra slots I would rather do it with ATI video cards in SLI mode. "2- 6800 Ultras in SLI = 4 slots blocked" plus, God knows the power supply or supplies needed. 2 ATI XT's= 2 slots blocked with same power requirements as 1 6800 Ultra. I guess if you don't have any...
Heat is not an issue on the 6800 OC, I have an flat external cast Iron heatsink and cook my breakfast on it during my Quake session. If I burn the bacon it has a built in weed blower to exhaust the smoke. I use the addtional slot it blocks as a grease catcher. :D
I downloaded the demo and even the additional Dll's for those having trouble per web site. All I get is a empty window after I click on the EXE.
Any suggestions?
Bring it on but only if its ATI. I dont want to put 2 power supplies in my PC for the NVIDIA waffle maker part. Man that would take up 4 slots if you went Ultra Nvidia. Think of the noise, it would drown our your vacuum cleaner :D
Don't forget that the Nvidia part
1. Blocks a PCI slot
2. Needs 2 molex connectors.
3. Needs an expensive power supply.
4. Uses a Noisy Leaf blower for cooling.
