Is it safe to replace the current ram in an older laptop of mine which currently has a 128meg 200pin sodimm DDR 266 (PC 2100), with two 200pin SO-DIMMS which are 256meg DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) which I pulled from a Dell laptop?
I know DDR and DDR2 don't mix in desktops because the pins are...
I've been looking around for a new pair of speakers for my computer. I've currently got a 2.1 system made up of the stereo from my old car (300 Watt JL amp, 2 JL 6.5" speakers, and a 12" JL sub) but would really like to replace it with something a little more practical. I've been looking...
My friends would like to use a computer to store/play movies etc for our living room, however our budget is rather tight. One of the guys found this Mvix Multimedia Player MV-5000U for sale on thinkgeek. Has anyone ever encountered/used this machine before, or know of anything that has similar...
I'm kinda new to this thread, Though from reviewing the previous posts this project look's AMAZING, keep up the good work! Any chance you could tell us how (unless i missed it in an earlier post) and where you got the parts reroute all the connectors to the back of the case from the motherboard...
In short, I need help finding a new keyboard that has the following functions/features.
1. Built-in USB hub
2. Volume/Media Controls
3. Wired is preferred
optional - Tactile key's (ie like the old IBM keyboards which i currently use)
So far I've found the Dell USB Media Enhanced...
I just found out today that my brother totalled my car. Which is rather unfortunate... so I'm going to need to drasticly reduce me budget to contribute to my new used car fund. While I won't have immediate use for a car during the school year, spending this kinda of money on speakers for my...
Thanks for all your input thus far! I'll know my budget for sure in about a week, so keep the suggestions coming!
The fluance speakers seem like a pretty good deal, but Gavin's right, I gotta keep in mind that it's a small room that 2 people gotta live in (my roommate and I).
For what...
Basicly In short -
I'm looking to replace these car audio
parts i've been useing in my dorm room:
JL XR650-CSi speakers
JL W3v2 subwoofer
JL 300.4 amplifier
Alpine CDA-7894 headunit
With a comperable audio setup that I can feed from my computer.
This is for a 12x12 room and I...
I'm currently useing the sound card built into my NF7-S 2.0 mother board to supply sound to my speakers. It's a pair of JL xr650csi speakers and 12" jl sub all running off of a JL 300.4 amp powered by a 40amp ac to dc power converter (I pulled it out of my car before we donated it to charity)...
Ok, my birthday just passed and I've accumulated enough money to pick up a new video card which. I've got about $200 to spend and I'm trying to decide on the XFX or the eVGA geforce 6800 from new egg. Is there any difference between the cards? Or are they pretty similarly rated?
Thanks in...
Just for my own peice of mind. Is it ok/safe to connect my computer's sound card directly into the line inputs of my speaker amplifier? I'm going from my Abit NF7-S integrated sound card to a JL 300.4 amplifier (yes i know it's a car amp, it's running off a 40amp ac-dc converter). I currently...
Basicly...my parents covered half the cost of my monitor for Xmass. A Viewsonic VP912b. However, since that was my only gift, and I owe them 300 for it and since i don't have a decent Video Card and won't be able to afford one prolly until my birthday in may. I don;t feel like it was a wise...
Reflectiveness aside, I love mine. I haven't run into a single problem at all. No defects either. Runs fine in Unreal2k4, Call of Duty, DVD's and TV(ati tv wonder pro). I'm running mine off of a Asus Geforce 3...analog unfortunatly but I'm hopeing for a dvi video card soon.
Yeah, I'm getting a new video card as well that's still up in the air right now as well but all the ones I'm looking at have DVI. But I deffinitly plan on going the DVI route.
But all told these are all good choices for LCDs?
This Xmass I'm planning to make the big move from the 19" Gem monitor I trash picked a few years ago to a more desk space friendly Flat screen monitor. Is switching to a 17" lcd similar to a 19" crt? Or would it be worthwhile to spring the extra monies to get a 19". Here are the one's I'm...
Based on my buget and reading this forum, I've narrowed my choices down to the Samsung 172x or the Viewsonic VP171s. And honestly I really don't know which one to choose. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Also, where is a good place to purchase monitors? I'm a bit anal when it comes...
The keyboard is neat...i own the previous less round version of that one from xoxide. Keep in mind though....that it is SMALL as hell. I ALWAYS miss the god damned backspace button and instead hit the home key. It takes forever to get used to useing such a small keyboar, mind you i've had it...
I know I'm just being paranoid, but I built a second computer a little while back but I just realized while doing some wiremanagement that the two motherboards (both Abit NF7-S rev2) there are a few slight discrepencies in the boards, well other then the fact that the northbridge fan on one of...
I managed to find a dremel in my garage with the snake extension thing and some cutting discs...i got the rough stuff done, im gonna use a file to do the thinner stuff i think and use a drill bit to do the finer areas that need to be cut, the paper clip might be worth a try too, thanks.
Thats the problem though...i don't have a spare peice of plastic to try cutting...and unfortunatly the letters are sort of detailed...if only because they are a little thin in some places. I'm Putting the letters Sigma, Phi, and Epsilon on the front, i used the symbol font at size 250ish to...
Im doing a simple little mod on an Antec Sonata Case, actually just to the front door, what would be the best method for cutting the plastic front door? Im trying to cut letters out and I want to pay as much attention to detail as possible. I already have the door taped up and the letters...
If you have to pay for it yourself...get a desktop, they're much more versitle, besides...i've yet to see a laptop with 320 gigs of harddrive space. Right now im actually saving for a tablet pc for notes and such.
I just ran memtest86 since i wasn't too sure if it was my ram or not that was giving me problems, but after running to 5 hours without a single problem im under the impression its good. However now i can't get prime to run. For a while it would bug out saying it got a rounding error while...
I've been running my 2500+ at 11x200 1.75v and Mushkin Ram 2-2-2-11 at 2.8v for a couple weeks now...and all of a sudden it keeps crapping out on me...for instance in unreal i keep getting. I don't understand? It worked fine last night while i was playing games...but now i can't run any games...
