Just wanted to let everyone know ZipZoomFly.com has Rampage Formula in stock, as of this morning, I think.
Just ordered one :)
My apologies if this is a duplicate of an earlier post.
It's the Online Monitor Ghosting Test V2 at this link, if that helps clarify the particular test:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1865
Interesting. Just ran it on my 1907FP at work and it does the same thing. Need to find a better test, I guess!
zigaroo,
You don't sound snotty at all--rather, I greatly appreciate your analysis and insight.
I really miss the higher-resolution display--I have to admit it. I may try hooking it back up and trying it again.
The thing that got me was I tried running a "ghosting" test web page I saw...
Well, crap.
At least I found the problem.
Unfortunately, it _is_ the monitor.
I've never run games on my 997DF CRT at anything beyond 1024x768, since I had a 6800GT forever, and only very recently acquired a 7950GT OC.
1280x1024 @ 85 Hz:
Lowest details (exact same as when using...
I think I'm going to hook up my 997DF CRT and see what it looks like with the exact same settings. If it's super-smooth then I may just return the LCD and wait another few years.
I don't do a lot of games, but I do like them quite a bit, and the visual distortion/tearing is quite...
I would agree with you there... but even with the LOWEST detail settings possible and no FSAA it's horribly unsmooth. I don't think that's GPU-related...
NFSU2 with full details at 1280x1024 would require at least as much, if not more, processing power from the GPU than NFSMW at 1280x1024...
Thanks for the reply, dbthump.
I didn't reinstall the drivers--I already had 93.71 installed for use with my 6800GT. Would it do any good to reinstall the same version?
Backlighting is superb on this one. Very, very happy with the static display, but I really wanted a good gaming monitor. :(
I wonder... should I go for a 19" instead, that would support the more standard 1280x1024 resolution? If so, is there a "king of all 19s" for gamers?
I would need...
Yes, I've tried the CNC3 demo, which does support 1680x1050. It looks fantastic.
NFS2 Underground, oddly enough, looks a great deal smoother than NFSMW. Both in 1280x1024 or 1280x960. Weird.
Hmmm... any advice on what to do with older games, then? I saw some weird scaling options in...
Hi, All,
I finally made my first LCD purchase, and picked up a Samsung 226BW.
The TN panel is rated for 5 ms B-t-B, and 2 ms G-t-G, but I'm not completely sure if it's "fast" enough for me.
If there's a great deal of movement on the screen all at once (NFS Most Wanted, for example)...
I haven't tried overclocking it yet, but no issues so far. It's pretty dang zippy.
I flashed to the latest BIOS (2.20) prior to installing the OS.
Only two things on the board I don't like, really:
1) System/front panel power LED connector is only 2-pin. Aaargh.
2) Floppy...
80726-1 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Processor Socket 939 Retail ***Free Shipping***
Just checked - looks like the above part manufacturer SKU is "ADV4400CDBOX"
Score! :)
Thanks again to everyone for the posts of experiences and recommendations.
Cool. Thanks, guys. I didn't want to swap video cards just yet--my AGP 6800GT oc'd to Ultra speeds seems to work just fine, but I needed something faster than my Northwood 2.4@3.2 GHz.
I'm going with the X2 4400+ then! :)
w00t!
Are there any major differences between a X2 4400+ (Toledo) and an Opteron 165 (Denmark)?
It looks like the 165 runs @ 1.8GHz, the X2 4400+ @ 2.2 GHz.
Both have 2x1MB L2 cache, and are about the same price at The Egg.
If I can't necessarily count on the AsRock 939Dual to OC more...
Thanks for the tips on the possible voltage issues... I'll dig up the info at AsRock.
I know the GEIL RAM seems to crave excessive voltage, so that's a possible concern there if it's not been fixed in one of the more recent BIOS releases.
Man, I'm looking forward to this! :)
Hey, Everyone,
I finally am getting around to purchasing an 939 X2 CPU. I've had an AsRock 939 Dual-SATA2 sitting in my office for ~9 months, but have had 0 spending cash since...
Now that prices have dropped significantly, I'm wondering which socket939 X2 CPU I should purchase...
What's the main difference between the 165 and the x2 3800+ ?
They're both 64-bit dual cores, right? Is there any reason the x2 3800+ would be better for gaming? I do a lot of that, so perhaps that's something I should consider over the opty...
Thanks!
Good food for thought, Ejay. I hadn't even considered that.
Prior to getting married and later working for the government (less pay, but it's stable!!!), I always had been on the "near-top" of current computer trends, way back to replacing the oscillator on my DX2-66 so it would run at 80...
So an opteron 165 rather than the x2 3800+ ?
Cool, it's only nearly 30 more than the x2 3800+ at the egg.
Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'll go for this and an Si-120.
My current board and chip will make a nice linux box.
Good Morning, All,
I have a 2.4 GHz Northwood OC'd to 3.2 GHz that I've been running for what seems like forever now...
It's been pretty nice, overall, but I'm curious if it would make sense to move up to an x2 3800+ . Funds are kinda low at the moment, so I'd need to keep my 6800GT...
Good Morning, All,
First off, if this is the wrong forum, I apologize in advance.
One of the offices in my region is in need of a camera capable of taking decent shots of cards approximately 1/3 the size of a regular sheet of paper.
A gentleman working there has been using his own...
Good Morning, All,
I'm looking at (finally) moving to an AMD X2 system. My P4 2.4@3.2 is getting a little long in the tooth, and I'd love to have a more "responsive" system, in regards to multitasking, etc. I have everything but the chip... not entirely sure which to go for at the...
Greetings, all,
I've searched the forums, and found some bits and pieces, but nothing directly associated to this...
I have used an Iogear 4-port USB KVM, model GCS124U for many years. It's been a terrific KVM--until recently. My MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0a finally died and, not...
Greetings, all,
Curious if anyone else here has had whacky, horrible pauses/skips with UT2004 once you enable any form of AA.
Currently have a Leadtek A400 GT TDH running at 400/1.15; even stock it has issues. No artifacts.

Thanks! Quite looking forward to it!
Picking up HL2 in about an hour, will have to play on 9700 Pro at first, but can't wait for GT to show up :D
slorch
OK, so, in theory, the A400 TDH should, infact, be a true 6800 GT.
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_a400_2.html
I purchased an A400 GT TDH, so I _should_ be OK, I hope...
Thanks for the clarification. It's been a bit confusing, as I've been running a 9700 pro for the past...
Hiya, folks,
OK, after much research, I took the advice of several [H]'ers and purchased a Leadtek Winfast A400 TDH, their version of the 6800 GT.
Problem: newegg lists the speeds as being BELOW my understanding of stock GT speeds: 325 core/700 memory.
Shouldn't that be 350 core...
Greetings, All,
I have a single P4 2.4B (533fsb), unlocked, which I received in another trade.
Works well but I have upgraded to a 2.4c and am quite happy.
I was limited to only 215 FSB on an IT7 Max2v2 with crappy 2700 RAM, so I'm unsure of its capabilities.
heatware is...
