Good Morning, All,
First off, if this is the wrong forum, I apologize in advance.
One of the offices in my region is in need of a camera capable of taking decent shots of cards approximately 1/3 the size of a regular sheet of paper.
A gentleman working there has been using his own personal camera, an old Sony Mavica (that uses floppies!) with excellent results. Unfortunately, that model no longer is in production or even available in retail channels.
Based on the reviews I found at Newegg, CNet, and a few other places, we ordered a Canon Powershot A610. While it takes excellent shots of people and environments, it pretty much sucks at trying to take pictures of text on paper. Every shot looks sorta double-exposed, and we've tried every setting and lighting condition.
Does anyone here have any suggestions for this project? Since we have to purchase the cameras through a government contract, we can't just buy them locally and return them when they aren't sufficient, etc...
In case you're wondering, no, we can't have a computer with us at all times, so portable scanners are out of the question, as 99% of them require at least a laptop to be present.
We did try a pen scanner that did not require a computer, one of the Docupen R700 models. It was atrocious. I would not recommend it for anyone.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
