For intel, it's easy. The first two digits represent the generation. The last 3 digits represent how many days you're meant to be satisfied with a product after they discontinue it.

The mobo is definitely not happy about something. Sounds like it would be easy to merely pop the original PSU back in? I might try some stability tests with Prime95 / MSI kombustor to make something happen sooner. Double check the PCIe power connections on the GPU.

Do you have a microcenter near you? Might be worth it to get a diagnostic. Or find a local PC shop. Ask how much to diagnose a pile o' parts. Once you have a list of what works, then find out if it works together.
