So, I still have an old system kicking around SLI GTX 275's. Would a single one of these or one of the ~$199 cards mentioned at the top of the thread be a good replacement?
Thanks for the suggestions all. So far it sounds like most cards that being suggested here are between the $185 to $200 mark. I do need to find out what kind of budget I'm dealing with and then get back into this thread to narrow it down a bit more. This does at least give me an idea of what...
Yeah everything else that I have played up to this this point(mass effect series, all COD's, all battlefields except the latest one, and world of tanks/warplanes) works just fine albeit a little sluggish on certain settings obviously.
Honestly since it was a gift I have no cost to me rolled...
@257Tony - I haven't tried all that much to be honest. I am relying on what the game and published minimum requirements are telling me. I did double check it over at systemrequirementslab.com and they definitely reported back that my vid cards were missing a few features that COD: Ghosts...
I will check out the FS forum but I definitely would prefer new to used. In the event of a lemon I would like a warranty to fall back on. The 760 seems a little spendy. Is this the new normal price range on cards these days; $270?
Well it seems I have really fell behind in the gaming community lately. Funny how starting a family will do that to ya ;) So, yesterday I received the COD: Ghosts game and after installing, updating, and patching I received a nice DirectX error when attempting to start the game. It didn't...
Getting ready to rebuild by SFF and there's just too many choices here. I need something to air cool the i7 920 that will fit in a Lian Li V350. What's the top candiate for this?
agreed but I thought the rampage was a little over the top(on nb temps) compartively based on all the reviews/owner opinions. seems like most people ended up buying extra after market heatsinks, etc that either blocked the top pcie lane or the top dimm slot. not really wanting to go that...
Initially I really liked the rampage but the the heat issues on the northbridge made somewhat dismiss it in favor of other mATX boards like this EVGA one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188051
Getting ready to upgrade my existing SFF from a Intel Q6600 + Intel DG33TL to something i5 or i7. I've been watching the latest motherboard reviews here and elsewhere but I'm not sure which direction to go at this point. I really like the asus maxximus gene board but I'm concerned that I'm...
I am getting ready to upgrade my current 9800gt for my b-day and am not sure which route to take. Both the 4870 1gb and the 260gtx(216) are my possible candidates as I want to stay with a single card and in the $200-250 price range. I play mostly RPG and FPS games on a 32" LCD @ 1920x1080. I...
Aren't most of those "new" features already in Vista? I mean, I didn't really see anything that is different other than the icons being a bit better looking on the taskbar.
When was your order submitted? I just got mine to go through at 4 minutes after 7(PST). Still haven't gotten any confirm emails yet. At least I have 21 days to return it if there's any hiccups.
Go to control panel. Click on Programs/Features(previously add/remove programs). Look for a link on the left that says default programs( this may also be in your start menu if you haven't removed it). Run that and select firefox for all associated files and now html links from other programs...
I know my company would only switch to vista at this point if XP was no longer available. We are already making plans with our software vendors for compatibility but we will continue to roll out workstations with XP so long as it is an option for us.
Most of our users don't know anything...
I haven't done this myself yet but from what I understand you go into the server management console, click on the drive you don't want anymore and click "remove". Supposedly the server then goes through a process of moving any data on that drive to the others and then takes it out of operation...
Has anyone installed this on a dual boot system yet? Just curious if that would cause any problems with how it handles the auto reboot when it needs to.
Heard another rumor that they are looking at opening up the purchase program where you can spend your allotted points on possibly anything at the intel online store too.
A little birdie told me that one of the purchase deals would involve a centrino chipset. In other words a laptop.
Take it with a grain of salt though as I have absolutely 0 proof.
Not sure how good this drive is but seems like a good deal considering most other ways to playback BD are at least ~$230 and up.

I can't wait for MS to release the first SP for this because of the same thing. Right now this only works with 32bit desktops but there will be 64 bit support in the SP along with LOTS of other fixes/updates.
Also mine is used for a print server as well as the above mentioned items.
Yeah go with vista 64 .. you'll be fine. I run a dual boot of vista64 and xp32 but only because if I have to work from home my job has some apps that just flat out don't support vista. If it wasn't for that every machine in my house would be running vista x64 only.
Alright, I've been playing around with the ATI 650 pcie for the last hour and I have to say I would definitely suggest it to someone over the avermedia m780. The analog signal quality is better. The catalyst media center is a breeze and works great with the OTA/QAM digital channels. Channel...
Yeah, I was in the same boat as you are. I had it narrowed down to the avermedia m780 and the ati 650. There seems to be many fans of both with mixed opinions on both sides. I thought that since the avermedia one was cheaper I might as well try that one. It seems like an okay card but the...
I have the avermedia and I have to say that I am not at all impressed with it. I ordered the ati 650 pci-e one but I haven't installed it just yet. I am hoping that the ATI one will be better so I can return the avermedia one.
