I buy a new video card every couple of years, as I suspect most of my fellow hardware enthusiasts here do. By the time DX12 matters, Nvidia will have a card out that's optimized for the salient features. This is a complete non issue.

Though I did see one ATi Pro ViVo (SN# 630430xxxxxxx) left the other day at CompUSA, the supply is fast drying up. Your best bet is to buy a Sapphire ViVo online, or pay a little bit more for a "real" XT.

Yes, you can use the modified flashrom and a backup of your original BIOS to disable the four defective pipes.
