The mb for my router box is refusing to power up anymore on a known good PS and ATX switch. I want to spend as little money as possible, since it's only going to be a router/firewall. That means I'd like to use my existing PC133 sdram.
I'd like to pick it up for something the neighborhood of...
If you really want to get subwoofage for cheap, you can also try to do a DIY tube sub built from a sonotube-type concrete form. They are big, ugly, but cheap. You could use your old receiver to power it too. Of course, you'd need to feet it a signal with a low-pass filter on it so that it...

The X-sub was co-winner with the X-LS for Good Sound's product of the year.

The low level connection is more standard nowadays, and since the receiver has it, why not use it? The high level inputs are really only for two-channel old-school folks.
If you're using the low-level input, I'd go with the Bash class-d amp. (Part Number 300-750)
They are very cool...
Are you going to run the subwoofer in line with the speakers via the high level inputs, or will you be using a low-level signal plugged into the RCA jacks?
Why buy 7 speakers when you only need 3? You want a better front soundstage (left, center, right) but you can still use your existing speakers for subwoofer and surround duty to help your budget go further. It might not be as simple as with some sets, because the z-3 is hardwired, but it can...

$79 each x2 = $160 shipped with coupon "shipspeakers"
See if that code is still applicable. Find yourself a $20-40 stereo reciever on you local Craigslist and you're set.
I think you'll want to look for the x-fi gamer card. It's the one that does the EAX in hardware. Here's a way to get it for $50. It's sold out, but you can buy it on backorder.

What are the specific Snell speakers? Do you know the model of tweeter component that they used? The tweeter is where the tone matching to the center will really be critical.
Your best bet would be to buy a variety of center speakers and audition them in your home for blend with your existing speakers. Keep the one you like and return the rest. The typical advice is to get the L,C,&R speakers as a set from the same manufacturer so that the blend along the front is...
That paper cone is fine. The thing has plenty of stiffening dope on it, and rotting will not be an issue.
Woofer surfaces are designed to be both light, so that they can respond quickly to the force from the magnet, and stiff, so that they can transfer that force to effectively move the air...

For ~$180 shipped, those are some dang good speakers, if a bit tall for a typical desktop PC config. They are the same price as the Infinity speakers but much better. Fosgate got bought out, and these are discontinued, so that's why...
Got my confirm e-mail quite quickly, and have moved over some files that I like to keep handy wherever I am. Thanks for the storage and the bandwidth.
Now, please stay in business. I like the site. :D

You might do well to try for a style of phone like the Koss KSC75. They won't mess up your girl's hair. Indeed, at $~15, the KSC75 could be a cheap alternative that she wouldn't be heartbrken to lose or break.

Apparently that one doesn't do EAX. You'll want the XtremeMusic. Blech, I hate that name.
Indeed, if you want to monitor some music, or you just like the "clean" sound of a monitor-type solution, the Senn 280 pro is a very good value. The isolation is also excellent, and helps make the world fall to the background, letting you listen to music.
While the Senn 280 Pro is a good pair of closed phones, I they don't really make "lots of bass". They have plenty of bass extension and accuracy is quite good, but the quantity might disappoint you.
Navigate through this headphone selection wizard for some good ideas of what's out there.
I expect to get around 15x on good discs, around 7x on discs with modest scratching, but things can go very slow (0.1x) when it finds a serious problem. If you are having a problem wiht a specifc disc, you can clean it. Clean the discs with your fingers and a mild detergent with water, rinse...
The fact that this is availible through Costco is what really puts this deal at smoking hot for me. Thier return policy is just that good. Case in point: My Sceptre 1600x1200 LCD from 18 months ago started having problems with backlight failure last week. With only a year of warranty from...
