For the 1 Millionth time. Elon Musk has said that the problem with AI isn't that it's going to kill us all because it becomes self aware and hates mankind. The problem with AI destroying us is that if a tiny group of people develops it first, it will enable them to advance in knowledge and...
A replacement gasket arrived from ekwb in a little less than a week. I haven't installed it yet, but I will soon. I'm thinking about doing a quick test with the multimeter with the probes at a set distance apart to see if I can see a difference in conductivity between the old and new gasket.
Pulled CPU block, CPU, reinstalled CPU, installed CPU block after trimming intel flaps from backplate, installed block gently.
Bios flash from USB.
Booted.
Worked.
This board and install retention are so finicky...
In reading posts online, it appears that others that removed the center of their rubber gasket in the defective ekwb backplate retention also experienced this, but it's just unusual that it occurred at a failed very small overclocking attempt. The pump definitely was working. Temps generally...
Ugh. The first day I played around with overclocking I'm getting a Q code of 8.
Tried clearing cmos, tried reflashing. Neither appear to be breaking it free of the code 8 system initializatiom agent issue.
Couple of updates.
1. Attempting to reinstall water block with tips from EKWB were not successful.
2. Attempted fan cooler inside of case again, failure this time!
3. Attempted to remove the center of the rubber gasket, and then the air cooler worked multiple times.
4. Attempted to reinstall...
Thank you for the input! I definitely have the ekwb supremacy evo block, and the kit included a am4 bracket. I read the description from the link to over at the oc net and the description sounds similar. Thank you for posting that. Despite my searching the web for answers that didn't come up...
Put motherboard back into case with same configuration with the only exception being that I reinstalled the water block instead of the air cooler. I tried plugging the air cooler in instead of the pump, didn't boot.
Pulled the ssd mount and fan controller off the back to check for clearance...
Tried pulling each ram stick.
Tried resetting cmos multiple times with power on and off
Verified that psu would still power on with the psu bypass plug.
Still need to try:
bios flash
Pulling board and looking for rogue standoffs
Booting board on cardboard box outside of pc
I'm curious, When people have had to clear cmos, possibly even multiple times on a new board, are they seeing the same behavior with lights on the unit, but no response to the power button? in my past experiences if a board has an unstable bios configuration, powering up the system results in...
When I unplug the CPU 8pin, the motherboard identified they were missing and displayed an led next to them. When I reseated the cable the light went off.
I've done a fair bit of troubleshooting. The two identified next steps are basically to pull the motherboard and attempt to post on cardboard...
Disconnecting all switches and trying to use the start switch on mobo failed.
Disconnecting all fans, USB, audio etc also didn't remedy the issue. pulling the board to rule out ground fault is going to be a pain in the rear because I have a custom water loop. This would be far less of a pain if...
Looking online, it appears that bios flashback is supported on this mobo. Since it refuses to even power up the power supply on hitting the power button, its anybodies guess on if trying to flash the bios is possible.
I'll try that.

I'm trying to determine if I can get clearance for the memory on a Crosshair VI Hero with Dominator Memory and a 140MM Sized AIO. Let me know if any of you has experience with this. :D
Jeez. Bringing back memories of K6 builds with voodoo add ons and Mechwarrior.
Building pcs 20 years ago required a lot of patience. Not only that, but the user communities weren't mature like today.

Asus Crosshair IV AM4 In Stock now at Newegg!

I just cancelled my Pre-Order with Amazon. They told me it could be up to a month before my order is filled. I checked Newegg and it says in stock. Good Luck fellow Hard...
I returned my Trident 3000 and purchase Corsair Dominator 3200. This was almost done almost entirely because it's on the QVL list and I don't want to deal with compatibility issues any more than absolutely necessary :D
I purchased the Gskill Trident Kit before I found out about the more compatible ram. I could probably still return or exchange my 3000mhz stuff. Any suggestions? I'm not an extreme overclocker

Funny you should mention that. I was just thinking about how the 80 boards on the way might show up with a bunch of goodies that make me regret so much into the Crosshair. What's the best value board in the early release segment?
I have a working 2500K. I've used it for 5 years. What's another month or two? :P I wonder if my wife would kill me if I bought a 1080 or 1080 Ti... hmmm
Still no word on my Crosshair from Amazon. I also read the email from Corsair that the adapter to make my H105 work on the 1700X is backordered. I'm going to have a processor, case, and memory but they will just collect dust. The only blessing in disguise is that by the time I build my system...
