    Radeon RX 7800 XT Reviews

This is all good to know. I was actually wondering if my PSU was underpowered. I'm running an old Ryzen 2700, 16GB of RAM, 1 old SATA 7200RPM disk, 1 SATA SSDs and one M.2. Stock cooler on the CPU in an open-air case. I'm looking at upgrading to a 7700 or waiting to see what the 8700x looks like...

    Radeon RX 7800 XT Reviews

I've had the Gigabyte OC Gaming 7800XT for a few weeks now. Overall it's a solid card for the most demanding game I play (Cyberpunk 2077 with RT enabled at, I think, quality settings, 55 FPS average) but I have driver stability issues with the latest drivers AMD released. If I use the latest...

Significant differences between Intel and AMD for office tasks?

I may end up doing that. I have a bias towards Ryzen currently (so many P cores; even if they aren't named that way) and I want to see just how fast their 8000 series is going to be when it comes out. I have a decent budget I can put towards this so if those CPUs end up being the big upgrade...

Significant differences between Intel and AMD for office tasks?

Thanks for all the helpful replies, everyone. That last graph from Anandtech really helped a lot. Looks like I may even save a little cash and go with a 7700. Thanks again!

Significant differences between Intel and AMD for office tasks?

Hey all, I'm trying to decide between a an AM5 processor and a 13th gen Core processor. I'm eyeing the 7800X3D vs the 13700k. They both seem like they're very good gaming CPUs and should both keep my RX 7800XT fed with no CPU bottleneck. I play an hour or maybe two a day on games like...

Google Fined $1.7 Billion Over Monopolistic Practices

This is nothing more than a tax increase on Google. If these guys are doing something so illegal, then why aren't people going to jail? This just seems like an excuse for the EU to take more money without killing the Google cash cow.

Warcraft III Is Being Remastered, Coming Next Year

This plus the Diablo mobile announcement make me think Blizzard is in decline as a top game studio. They're still making money hand over fist, but they seem more interested in finding ways to cash in on their brand rather than finding ways to create fun innovative games.

Amazon Posts Environmental Footage from Their MMO

I think the bigger point is being missed here. This is a tech demo for other game developers showing the graphics their engine is capable of as well as their networking backend. Amazon is going to try to compete with Epic games and Unity and their big differentiator will be that they enable the...

No internet access when connecting wireless repeater to an access point

Hey guys, I've recently turned my old Netgear Nighthawk r7500 v2 into an access point, connected to my Google fiber box. I have a renter that lives above my detached garage a good 60 feet or more from where the Google router sits, and I want to get him better internet speed and stability. Hence...

OpenAI Bots Smashed in Their First Clash Against Human Dota 2 Pros

It was fun to watch. The funny part about it was that the bots behave like a lot of hackers you run into laddering. People have marcos set up to instantly perform commands that take even the fast people a split second. The speed at which the computers operate on those aspects of the game was...

Steam.tv Is Live and Streaming DOTA 2 The International 2018

I love DOTA. Ridiculously high skill cap, punishing gameplay (even small mistakes cost you big) limitless replay value, and it will run smoothly on my lowly 1060 probably forever. I'm glad to see Valve stepping into streaming and hopefully improving their major events production values, and I'm...

San Francisco to Future Tech Workers: Your Days of Free Lunch May Be Numbered

The saddest part is that their citizens not only tolerate this kind of bullshit, petty tyranny, but they full on embrace it and believe they live a more enlightened life than the rest of us flyover states. This same behavior drives their housing costs higher than they would otherwise be due to...

Astro Gaming A50 Wireless Headset & Base Station Review @ [H]

Astro actually developed the Skullcandy PLYR series of headphones. I've had a pair of these headphones for 4 or 5 years now, and they are actually incredibly well built. No bugs with PCs, excellent range, very good sound quality, very good mic, and much much cheaper than Astro's A50s. They're...

Corsair T2 Road Warrior Gaming Chair Build and Size

Do most of you game on these faux leather racing chair style chairs? They look like they'd be incredibly sweaty. I'm not particularly heavyset (175 and 5'10") and anything but a mesh chair just makes me sweat like crazy. I haven't used anything but a mesh chair in a long time as a result. Have...

    Domain Squatter Faces New Foe

I don't see the problem with domain squatting. An individual or company identifies domains potentially worth a profit in the future and pays for them today, pays annually to keep them, and then potentially sells them for a profit (sometimes a huge profit). Doesn't look any different to me than...

    Official Rage 2 Announce Trailer

I bought Rage a few years after release and the texture popping seemed to be largely resolved, though it was still more noticeable than in other larger open-world games. The driving wasn't particularly fun, but the gameplay and locations were great. IIRC it had pleasant shooter mechanics, and...

Chinese AI Helps Breed 6 Billion Roaches

Just a random thought really. I mean they have a billion plus people in their country that eat protein. If you control the economic activity of the country and want to cut protein costs, just make everyone eat roach burgers. :D It's totally tinfoil. Just the first though that popped into my head.

Americans Ready for Tougher Privacy Rules on Big Tech

I'm sure those 70 year old congress people will be well up to the task of regulating a business as massive and technically innovative as Facebook. No way regulatory capture will occur and twist regulations into artificial barriers to competitive entry.

Chinese AI Helps Breed 6 Billion Roaches

Protein farm. I seem to recall insects are by far the most efficient protein we can farm. They require much less food and water to generate the same amount of protien.

Epic Games Demonstrates Real-Time Ray Tracing

4 Volta cards. So if we get about a 35% performance increase with every new generation then we're about 5-6 generations out from the release of Volta before this being possible on a single card. That seem about right?

Bill Would Make It Illegal to Sell Electronics without Easily Replaceable Batteries

So dumb. If you don't like a product you can't repair, don't buy it. Go find a product you can repair and vote with your wallet.

Valve Removes Tournament's Major Status Because It Will Require Drug Testing

I'm happy to see Valve pull the "Major" labeling from the tournament. Valve probably (correctly) suspects that many of the most popular players smoke pot and would be flagged and unable to participate. They can avoid highly negative publicity about a game that is largely played and followed by...

League of Legends Getting Crowdfunding Support For Prize Pools

I mean you can substitute copying of what DOTA2 does and that's really all I meant. No slight to Riot (I actually had a job offer there a few years ago and they all seemed like fun people when I interviewed). LOL definitely has the biggest playerbase, but I argue that DOTA2 is just as supported...

League of Legends Getting Crowdfunding Support For Prize Pools

I'd say this is a direct ripoff of how DOTA2 has been run for that last two years at least. Can't really fault Riot for copying success though.

Could The Future Of Android Be Windows?

I have jumped between Windows Phone and Android for years now, and honestly the only thing that keeps pulling me back to Android is app support (and I guess to a much lesser degree hardware). Outside of poor app selection on Windows 10 for phones I preferred that OS in just about every way...

    Which 1060's are the best

My asus OG 6GB (it's a white card) is nice and quiet and I got core clock up to 2100Mhz without doing really anything. I play a bit of Doom 2016 and the Witcher 3 and neither really needed the overclock, but if that is your goal it seems to do quite well. Little too pricey though IMO. I think...

    ASUS GTX 1060 O6G impressions

Haha. I was thinking of getting a water cooler for the CPU, but I don't intend to overclock, and I need all the money I can pull together to finish building my desk and office. Maybe I'll worry about the heatsink when the system needs to be faster to handle new games.

    ASUS GTX 1060 O6G impressions

Yeah I thought the same thign about the 80c especially reading reviews. I think the main problem is that the fans aren't getting quite enough air flow. I'm going to try increasing my intake fan speed and see if that helps. That said, the card is super quiet and completely stable, so I'm not...

    ASUS GTX 1060 O6G impressions

It'll handle those just fine. My 7850 did just fine with those, even after pretty heavily modding Skyrim (which I highly recommend). I agree with you on the $40 extra. If it hadn't been for the white shroud and the improved heatsink I think I'd have avoided it and just gone with the stumpy...

    ASUS GTX 1060 O6G impressions

If I understand your question, I see the fans hit about 1,200-1,400 RPMs in Doom at 1440p. In DOTA2 the fans stay at around 900. Both of those speeds are silent, or at least I can't hear them. My card hits about 80c. I upped my clock to 2100Mhz and the fan speeds and temperature didn't change.

Hey guys, I picked up an ASUS GTX 1060 last week and wanted to share my impressions with you guys. This was part of an overall system overhaul, so it might be good to tell you what I was upgrading from. My previous system, as best I can remember, was about 4 years old and had the following...
