That's 4 characters, I said 2k which is correct by current branding conventions and is only 2 characters. I win.

    high refresh question

Not really correct. 2k and 4k are both bs marketing monikers that aren't indicative or respective of actual tech spec data. That being said, displays which are most commonly referred to as 2k, are 1440 (2560x1440). Nobody, not resellers or the makers, refer to 1080 displays as anything other...

    high refresh question

If this kind of posting is discouraged here, please let me know as I haven't posted here long enough or looked at enough threads to really notice. I mean consecutive posting instead of editing even though I clearly have edited certain posts. I've posted at umpteen forums over a decade and a half...

    high refresh question

~update~ Wasn't impressed with the monitor or gsync, like at all. Taking it back and gonna get the LG 32UD59-B instead. Over 400 less and still a beautiful 60hz 4k monitor. Thanks again for the replies!

    high refresh question

I never buy used, sorry. I did just buy a new 1 on sale though and it's great so far, but how do you get gsync to kick on? I enabled it in the control panel, but I checked a frame counter in game and it was over 60 into the 70's so I'm pretty sure gsync was not on. I checked global settings in...

    high refresh question

Thanks for the replies so far guys! I have been looking at both Acer Predator 32" gsync monitors also. The 4k/60 and the 2k/165 ~edit~ just found this, looks good, but only freesync and I am forever team green...

    high refresh question

"Non-adaptive sync displays will just refresh at their refresh rate" Ok, but what about a game that is hard coded to only do 60fps at 60hz? That's exactly the scenario I'm asking about basically. A game designed to run at 60 on a 144hz monitor for example, what would it do, how would it behave...

    high refresh question

What do games with locked fps/refresh rates do on a high refresh monitor? Like if I tried a game designed for 60hz/fps on a higher refresh display, would it work, what would it do or take to get it to run properly? The reason for my question is that I'm shopping for a new display and am...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Ram is running dual channel (I lol'ed when I read that actually, but thanks for your input) and Vsync isn't on. Whatever the issue is, it's very subtle and only a reinstall will likely fix it. I need to reinstall Windows for other reasons anyway, but have been procrastinating. Anyway I...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Like what? I enabled DSR factors for the 4k and 8k runs to display on my 1080 monitor, but that's it. I seem to remember something about 32gb of ram potentially being weaker in terms of performance than just 16gb so maybe that has something to do with it. I have 2 16gb sticks running at XMP of 2666.

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

eclap also has a GTX 1080 and a cpu that's almost identical to mine except 200mhz faster and his scores are 2k higher. There is definitely something wrong with my system, but unfortunately I have no clue where to start looking. GPU usage is sitting at 99% throughout all runs regardless of...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

My 1080 has a pretty healthy factory OC (1847mhz) on it though so I'm still unsure if there is something amiss with my results. Barely over 4k score on the 1080 Extreme preset seems very low for an OC'ed GTX 1080 and a 4ghz ht i7.

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Nice to see more results and now I'm convinced my scores should be much higher. How is a 980 ti paired with a slower cpu than mine beating my gtx 1080 running the 1080 extreme preset? ~edit~ Just noticed the cpu is oc'ed to 4.6 and is an i7 like mine so I guess 600mhz faster cpu can make a...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Interestingly enough, the cpu didn't seem to bottleneck the gpu (as much/at all?) when I ran the low preset with opengl instead of dx. Might have to retest a few times to see if it was some kind of fluke and I'll monitor everything with hwinfo during to see if I notice any anomalies.

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Decided to try the 720 low preset just for the heck of it and as I suspected, hit a cpu bottleneck. As you can see, the gpu maxed at 76%. From my previous posts, you can see that I have run every other preset and never went below 98% until this.

Laugh? Nah, your rig did alright imho and showcased how well this fantastic piece of pretty code scales!

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

The more scores I see get posted, the more convinced I am that the scores I'm getting are waaay lower than they should be. :( ~edit~ hmm maybe not, gotta do more testing I only have a 1080 monitor, but almost forgot I can run at 4k scaled due to DSR so here are my 4K results.

    Power Supply - loud click

I already stated that I found the source of the noise in my previous post. This was accomplished by listening to everything outside of the case and running everything on my tabletop. As I also mentioned, I'm not sure if the de-pop relay is supposed to click as loud as it does or in some of the...

    Power Supply - loud click

Not sure why the trolling, but the jokes were lame. Anyway I am an idiot though because it wasn't my psu after all. Turns out it is the de-pop relay on my motherboard. The thing is, I'm inclined to believe this relay may not be functioning normally because I would think it should only make this...

    Power Supply - loud click

I'm on my 3rd psu now, a Cooler Master V850 and this unit also exhibits the click, but it seems to be the worst with this unit. Was just running the Heaven benchmark and it clicked very loud several times during. It's never many clicks in quick succession, just a single loud click at a time, but...

    Power Supply - loud click

I contacted EVGA support and the guy I spoke with suggested it could even be a motherboard issue. Can anyone weigh in with thoughts, ideas and suggestions about this?

    Power Supply - loud click

Thanks for replying. So it sounds like you're saying it is basically normal and a function on that internal component, but in my situation it seems way too loud to be "normal" and this is what worries me. The sound is about as loud as cracking knuckles sometimes, that is the only comparison I...

    Power Supply - loud click

When I power the system on/off, reboot and also sometimes in certain load scenarios, the power supply makes a single loud click. The sound is not continuous or sustained, just a single loud click. I've Googled and get mixed opinions on the issue and it's driving me crazy so I hope to find some...

    Clean power?

When people say "bad drivers", it always makes me scratch my head. What does that mean exactly? I always install the latest drivers, the same drivers every other person with the same hardware would be running, the drivers directly from the chip makers web site. I can only assume you either mean...

    Clean power?

It happens with headphones too though and they're just plugged directly into the rear i/o via a 3.5 jack. My cpu is powerful so I'm not sure how it could possibly be getting bogged down. It's a stock speed i7 6700k that is very well cooled and runs at 60c at most while doing just about anything...

    Clean power?

I tend to have pretty bad luck with hardware and while seemingly unlikely, I suppose it is possible that I just so happened to have 3 separate machines' built in sound cards have defects/faults/flaws. I'm kinda at my wits end, but as with just about any PC problem I've had over the years, I'll...

    Clean power?

Tripp Lite is awesome and are sending out replacements without even requiring me to send these in! For those asking what my "issue" is, I didn't mention it because I tried to figure it out in another thread and was coming up empty so decided to explore other things, namely my ac power. Just to...

    Clean power?

Yeah it's super faint and I have to put my ear right up to it, but it does get louder if I plug more stuff in and there is more total wattage being pulled from the wall. I suppose it could be harmless, but being as OCD as I am and as paranoid as I am since I feel like my luck with any hardware...

    Clean power?

I decided those looked good so I got 2 of em and what do you know, my shitty luck strikes again. They look like great units and I'm sure they work great, but both the ones I ordered on Amazon make a very faint buzzing noise when just about anything is plugged into them and running. I'm actually...

    Clean power?

    Clean power?

The placement of this thread in this section is reasonable I hope, apologies if not. I just figure people who care about quality audio and video playback, would definitely be knowledgeable about this. How are you connecting your equipment to your AC? Best USB sound card for headphones and lowest mic latency

Thanks for replying! It's very important to me that the mic have as little latency as possible because I'll be chatting on Skype a lot and also using it to communicate in gaming. Can you comment on that with the Omni or know of any tech site or youtube reviews that talk about mic latency?

    memtest86+ usage question

Got a new motherboard and even though I already tested the ram I have, I wanted to test it again in this new board. The board is an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and I have 2 8gb sticks of 1600 ddr3 in it. I also bought a new cpu cooler, the Corsair H60. The post code area on the board shows cpu temp and I...
