I did a little research on the floating docks. Turns out I need 5.25.x to have the option, which is why I couldn't find it. Only 5.24.7 is available on my Mint 21.3 distro. Oh well. Latte dock for now!
I only used Wayland once on XFCE to give it a try as it was suggested to solve a battle net black screen issue I had, and it did.
I don't have the problem on KDE so I won't bother with Wayland on that.
Turns out I have KDE 5.xx, not 6. I couldn't really find any information about using it on mint.
Using Latte dock now on Mint 21.3 with KDE5. Usually I can choose Wayland when I pick a DE at the login screen, but with plasma I don't get the Wayland option, so no harm no foul.
hijack,
how do you put your icons at the bottom centre like that? Probably something easy I am missing. Using KDE6 plasma right now and I think its amazing. Big change form cinnamon that came default on Mint. I generally run XFCE, but even this beats it. imo.
You aren't faffing NOW, but I'm sure you were at the beginning. As someone who flops between windows and Linux periodically, I have to configure tons more in Linux after installation than windows.
I'm not against Linux, but the fanboys love to claim "it's so simple! I use it every day!". Yeah...
Which is why I said "most companies".
Is there merit to this? That any random person out there can compile their own kernel and get past cheat protection software?
The company actively didn't support it was my point. There are numerous ports throughout the years for other games via emulation and cracks within windows, so of course there are ways out there to make things work, but to not support it vocally and THEN actively prevent it is a weird one.
To...
Even before this current change it was never supported. There's the issue in itself.
Secondary to that if the discussion on WHY a company would go out of their way to add code to prevent Linux from working. There has to be an end game point to spend money and programmers time on preventing...
I guess I've just never cared who the owners or CEOs of these companies are. If the game is cheaper on a different platform, that's where I buy it. I feel no requirement to choose one company over another because of tweets.
I agree with the dopamine comment, though. I don't particularly feel...
Whether you "shed a tear" or not, it's a game that has half a billion users worldwide. Any game that has that fanbase and will not work under Linux is an issue.
Your anecdotal evidence of "my games work" if a poor take when we are in a thread about Linux adoption.
Cesspool or not, most things with Epics anti-chest type software won't run in Linux. Not too much lost, but anti-cheat will hold Linux gaming back more than most reasons.
I had no Roblox luck, only Roblox studio.
Roblox is definitely a cesspool, but I've explained to my kids the dangers of the online world. At least I feel I have to ab adequate degree. I make them watch Sound of Freedom, telling them that's a real situation and they would never see us again...
Hijack....
So, my laptop has become basically a WoW machine these days and my kids are done caring about games like Fortnite and Roblox, which were the two keeping me in windows, as they use cheat protection that breaks in Linux.
That said, is WoW pretty solid? I tried it last time, iirc, and...
$700 is overpriced that that system, even in Canada I wouldn't spend $700 Canuck bucks.
That system would easily play the games mentioned, though.
I haven't played beanNG, but the other two my kids ran on a secondary system with an AMD APU (3200g) without issue. Any discrete card will make it...
That's as cliffs as it gets.
You get rewarded XYZ for work. Soon you will receive half as much for the same work.
Done.
The price is going up because it will now be harder to obtain via hardware. Harder to get = worth more.
Unfortunately, you're here in a thread to suggest a card for someone else. Your personal preference, suggesting a card that's WORSE, is counterproductive to the thread.
I am sorta confused here.
If both cards, outside of RT are the same, why wouldn't you buy the similar priced card that also offers an extra feature?
It seems you are suggesting AMD just "to buy something different".
Seems counterproductive to buy a GPU, similarly priced, with less features...
One of the WORST programs out there. Beyond irritating. Shame I need it to adjust the 1200dpi setting to 1000. Otherwise I wouldn't install it.
On topic: I always smirk when I reformat and install Nvidia drivers and that old control panel opens up. I seem to remember it in the tnt2 days, but...
They can still be in the rear view mirror while Intel makes their chips.
Money is king.
Edit: I should mention, before my inbox is flooded like that time, that I'm not saying Intel is ahead or AMD is behind, I'm simply saying that it would be stupid for Intel to not make their chips, no matter...
You and I both. I wish game companies would make the binaries for Linux so badly. I don't know the complexity of it, but I would think with windows and Linux both supporting OpenGL and Vulkan that they would be getting closer to being cross platform. I've wanted to switch for years, but...
You know, you're something of a broken record. I've seen you say "this is the last windows I'll use" at least 10 times. Easily.
Just install the new version, adapt, move on with life.
