    New FX chip?

Looking at AMD's web site, it looks like a liquid cooling system for existing CPU's. A bit of a letdown for an AMD fanboy.

    A10-7850K + Asus A88X Pro

I think I got it dialed in. Been running prime95 with no throttling, CPU temp is hovering at 55 under load and is rock solid at 4.3. I installed AI Suite 3 and let it configure the fans for me. I guess they were drawing in too much air and not enough exhaust. When I started with this old...

    A10-7850K + Asus A88X Pro

At idle, Speccy shows temps all over the place, jumping between 50 & 60. Here are my idle temps reported by Speccy and HWiNFO64. http://i.imgur.com/nmas99Z.png Let me know if I'm going crazy or if this looks good. EDIT: Even at idle, the CPU keeps dropping to 3.5 for a second or so.

I have the fan set as pull. I experimented with push and pull and found no difference. I went with pull because it doesn't obstruct the RAM slots.

    A10-7850K + Asus A88X Pro

Hi guys, I'm treading into uncharted waters with overclocking Kaveri. I have had great success pushing Vishera, but Kaveri is proving to be a challenge. I have the CPU at 4.3GHz on 1.4v. This isn't the final voltage as it is hard locking. I keep inching it up after it locks. CPU and NB...

    AM3+ Socket - Still warrent a purchase?

AM3+ and the AMD 900 series chipsets are about three years old now. It might be viable for some applications, but for me, my next build won't be AM3+.

Well done. I'm liking the lighting inside the case.

May I ask what makes you think the 4170 is the bottleneck?

    KiLLeR System UnLeaSHeD!

That rig does earn you some bragging rights, please don't abuse them. Having a title of "KiLLeR System UnLeaSHeD! ROAR!!! MO FO'S!!!" makes you sound cocky. Anyway, be sure to post some pics when you're done building it!

Are Intel i7 4770K cooler than AMD FX-8350?

What cooler are you running? Are you running them at stock speeds? Stock, the 4770k had a TDP of 84W while the TDP of the 8350 is 125W, meaning the 8350 does get a bit warmer.

16 core AMD processor with HT

It would be real nice to see an enthusiast G34 board with PCIe 3.0 support, USB 3.0, SLI/Crossfire to answer to Intel's X79 platform.

    Anything wrong with this build

I see you're going for a 1TB class SSD. Considering you're doing video editing, I would throw in a spinner, something like a 3-4 TB drive.

Be Forewarned: Asus RMA is atrocious and getting worse.

I had a good experience with Asus RMA as well. I had an M4A87TD-EVO that crapped out. Got a new one in a week.

Lost in a sea of RAM

I swear by g-skill RAM. I have used it in a lot of builds with no issues. I'm running Mushkin Enhanced Blackline in my main rig and Corsair Vengeance Pro in my Hackintosh.

What is your Haswell idle temp?

i5-4430 with stock cooler in a slimline case with a single 80mm fan for exhaust. Temps are reported by HWMonitor Idle: Ambient: 22c CPU: 30c Case: 28c While Running Prime95: Ambient: 22c CPU: 61c Case:53c

    Floppy Drive

That isdefinitely an option. I do have an IDE controller card that has to be installed anyway to run the ZIP drive. Another good idea. Maybe I can somehow adapt the USB drive into the housing of an internal drive.

any way to plug a USB headset into a standard 2.5 mm phono jack

The reason there is no adapter is because the USB headset has its own DAC. The USB port does not send analog audio information the same way a headphone jack does. Hope this information is helpful.

    Floppy Drive

While it's not the end of the world if the floppy didn't work, I feel like I would be cheating if it didn't. I might bite the bullet and do just that.

    Floppy Drive

I was contemplating that but card readers weren't commonplace in the late 90's. Then again, neither was front USB yet I'm retro-fitting the case with that.

    Floppy Drive

I'm getting ready to start a new build that I'm calling "Project Sleeper". I managed to get my hands on an old beige case that dates back to 1999; in it, I'm going to build a computer that can play the most modern titles at medium to high graphics settings and playable framerates. The...

    Fios Static IP Woes

mwarps - That is exactly what I did. The 1:1 NAT works perfectly on Cable. Liger88 - This looks promising. I'll mess around with it. Thank you for the replies. Update: Creating the virtual interfaces per the link didn't seem to work the way I want it.

    Fios Static IP Woes

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this one. Days of googling turned up no answers for me. At my workplace, we have a dual wan setup with Cable and Fios internet. We have a block of 5 static IPs with each service. The router I'm using is a ZyXEL USG 200. In it, I configured a 1:1 NAT...

    ASRock Z87 Extreme4 RAID configuration

What are you trying to do? Build a RAID 10? Like bloodypulp said, in the BIOS, make sure the SATA mode is set to RAID. You will then be presented with the option to configure the RAID when you reboot.

Odd setup - what would you do?

What kind of features do you need in a RAID? Maybe something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816115100

Odd setup - what would you do?

I'm going to guess that this is a media server. If this were my system, I would get rid of the Supermicro cards and replace them with something that supports hardware RAID. The Green drives will not play nice with RAID 5 or 6 because when they power down, the RAID controller will think that...

    $1000 Build

A B85 and K series CPU don't mix. You'l want a Z87 motherboard to be able to fully utilize all the features of that CPU. That's not to say you can't put a K series CPU in a B85 and expect it to work.
