I once asked Arctic Silver and they told me just apply 9 dots. It will melt and spread even after the CPU gets some temprature.

Well games are more sensitive to frequency than number of cores. However it's hard to find a great X58 mobo nowadays. But I have to say it's much more fun to play with LGA1366 than LGA2011. I've got a X5698 (4.4GHz stock freq, dual cores, lga1366). It is ultra fast in single thread tasks.

I've got the Z87 and 4770K. Not worth the waiting, honestly. Pretty much the same thing as 3770K. But if you would like to go Xeon then E3-1280 V3 might be a good choice. It overclocks better without the integrated graphics.

Well better not to take the 4770k unless you need the integrated video. I already got one on hand and it performs exactly like the 3770k. However there's more fun with it coz you can adjust the BCLK. 3930K might be the best choice if you really need the power from six cores. The X79s are getting...
