It really depends on what you use it for (the GPU is sufficient if you aren't doing any strenuous graphical work / gaming at the native resolution).
You actually can upgrade the CPU, memory and hard drive, but the GPU is soldered to the logic board (the iMac uses a mobile GPU).
As I said...
Minus the display? That's like saying "minus the engine, you can build an ultralight that will smoke an F-15." That's a $2200 display by itself, and the whole reason somebody would buy the computer in the first place.
I'd be the first to say that Apple has been jerking customers around a little...
Is there a release date on the Dell U3415W in the US? I was originally under the impression that it was going to be released in December. Is there a shortage or something (given that they've released them in other countries already)?
It really is a shame. This unfortunately ends up happening to a lot of honest companies with good intentions. I remember when newegg had a "no questions asked" return policy, free 3 day shipping on all orders and BY FAR the best prices around.
The huge increase in competition has really hurt...
Yeah, I wouldn't use this PSU for a crossfire 290x setup. I have a dual 290X system along with a 4930k and under full load, the system pulls over 800W at the wall. Granted, my system is overclocked and also has a water loop in it but even at stock clocks, I think you're cutting it too close...
If you plan on doing any overclocking, 660W is probably cutting it a bit too close.
If you don't plan on overclocking and don't have too much going on with components (e.g. a bunch of extra hard drives or water cooling), then I think you'll be fine with 660W. Check out some reviews for power...

An awesome price on an awesome PSU...
Seems like a solid price but I'm not sure what these have been going for lately given the release of the 850.

The AX860i is a fantastic PSU. A previous system of mine had an AX760i and I'm using an AX1200i in my current system. The voltage regulation and efficiency of these PSUs is the best I've experienced. The only thing that bothers me about these units is the POS fan Corsair uses (seriously...

I've been pretty busy with school so I haven't had a chance to test all the features yet. Hoping to try out the sniper button and play around with the weights a bit this weekend if time allows.
Thanks, I appreciate the responses.
I think you're right Yiffy. I was going off the specs online (actual PSU is at a friends house) and never really considered that it wasn't modular (been awhile since I've used a non-modular PSU).
I feel like quite a dunce right now... anyway, I guess I'll...
I reluctantly accepted a G502 Proteus Core from Logitech when I opened an RMA for an issue I was having with my G500s (apparently the G500s is discontinued so they offered me a G502 instead).
I say reluctantly because I'm a long time MX518 user and the G502 looks quite different.
Long story...
I have a regular Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid (same keyboard / OEM as FILCO only with Cooler Master branding) with MX Blue switches and it's the best keyboard I've ever owned.
Cooler Master recently released the Quickfire Rapid-i which adds backlighting and an ARM processor. It's available...
I'm throwing together a system with some old parts and want to try to use a Seasonic S12-430 to power a 6870. The S12-430 only came with a single PCI-E power cable and the 6870 requires 2 of them though. I have a spare PCI-E cable from a Seasonic X750 but wanted to double check before using it...
I've started using Western Digital's enterprise drives over their higher end consumer drives.
I use an SSD for my OS and applications where speed is wanted. For mass storage, my primary concern is reliability. The WD SE for example is the same price as the WD black and is supposedly more...
The raw read/write performance of both drives is almost identical (540 MB/s / 520MB/s in the Samsung vs. 550 MB/s / 500 MB/s in the MX100). The MX100 also uses MLC NAND while the Samsung uses TLC (perhaps a slight edge to the MX100 in terms of longevity and reliability).
Keep in mind though...
I started out with Samsung drives (when the 830 was all the buzz). My last two drives have been Crucial though (M500 and just purchased an MX100). The current price point of the higher capacity crucial drives is just too good to pass up imo (I find it difficult to justify the extra cost for...

These drives are a great price per GB and the performance isn't bad either (550MB/s Read 500MB/s write with the 512GB...
Sigh... I sure do miss the good old days of games.
What's really sad is that so many people are apparently so completely oblivious to what's happening... or they just don't care.
Remember when a company would release a big title only once every several years? Remember when games would come...
As a few others have mentioned, I wouldn't worry about power consumption too much when making your decision. The Xeon will be idle most of the time and when idle it consumes next to nothing.
It really depends on what you want to do though. I'd probably go with the Xeon though for future...
As somebody else mentioned, if you can wait a few weeks, Newegg has frequent sales on both the Seasonic platinum 660W and 760W (I think it's usually $89 for the 660W and $99 for the 760W).
Those Seasonic Platinums are two of the best PSUs on the market. I don't know much about the Seasonic G...
Thanks, I really appreciate the info. The different PSUs having different pin configurations is exactly the sort of "minor detail" I was worried about.
I've never used these individually sleeved cables before so I'm not really sure how the sleeving impacts routing difficulty. We can say stuff...
I can't find any information that isn't 1+ year/s old and nothing that gives a definitive answer.
Corsair has released new PSUs (digital version of their AX series) and new cables for their new PSUs as well as updates to older versions (generation 2).
I can find threads that discuss PSU...
Sorry if this has already been asked but all the information I found was outdated.
Does anybody know if any of the sleeved PSU cables Corsair sells are compatible with Seasonic platinum power supplies (specifically the 1000W model)?
I know Seasonic now makes several of Corsair's higher end...
Yeah, I think I'm just extra sensitive to this sort of thing. I've had several PSUs that emit the same sort of sound and my friends think I'm insane because most of them can't even hear it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I do have the mouse plugged directly into a USB 2.0 port straight off the...
I have 3 Battlefield 4 game codes that I'm looking to sell for $20 each. Each code is redeemable for a downloadable copy of the original game (does not include any expansions).
The instructions for redeeming the codes are:
-Go to www.AMD.com/getbattlefield4
-Sign in or create an account...
My trusty MX518 is on its last leg (held together by my shoddy soldering job) so I picked up a G500s when they were on sale at amazon for 39.99 a week or two ago.
I'm getting used to the G500s and like the way it feels in my hand and tracks. The problem is that it emits a high frequency...
Thanks for the info. This is what I was worried about (not to mention like others have said, after the ebay and paypal fees it isn't even worth it).
I'll probably just throw them up on the "for sale" forum here. It seems like most people have pretty good experiences selling stuff here.
Thanks for the info. I'm starting to think it might have something to do with my motherboard being UEFI or maybe secure boot (quite a few people having similar issues on newer motherboards). I guess for now I'll just save what I can to a second partition and keep searching for any updates.
I've tried absolutely everything to my 32GB USB thumb drive to run xubuntu with a persistence greater than 4GB. Everything I've read says I can just delete the old casper-rw loop file, create a new casper-rw partition (using ext2) and it should work.
Every single time I create the casper-rw...
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried listing a PSU on this forum awhile back but nobody seemed interested. I figured it was because I didn't have any reputation as a seller on these forums. I'm thinking I might give this another try though. Maybe I'll have better luck considering the game codes...
A year ago I purchased two of the 8GB (2 x 4GB) kits of this stuff for $35 a kit. If only I knew where memory prices were going back then... I would have purchased 20 kits of this stuff at that price.
I made a post awhile back wondering the same thing. This was by far the greatest memory I've...
I agree with others regarding the $1000 price point of the 8 core chip. I'm guessing there will be a 6 core K model around $600 (just as there is now) and Intel will make the extreme edition chip 8 core (finally justifying the additional cost for the EE).
Thanks for the quick responses. I've actually never sold anything on Amazon so I'm not really familiar with how it works. My issue with shipping is just what GardenTool said. You are only covered if you have delivery confirmation.
Maybe my best bet is to just email the code and cross my...
I have 3 BF4 scratch-off game codes for a full copy of the game.
I was going to throw them on ebay and simply email the code to the winner but after reading up on it, I don't think I get any buyer protection unless I ship an actual item to the winner.
Is my only option to sell the actual...
I just replaced my wireless with a powerline adapter and couldn't be happier. My download went from around 8 Mbps on the wireless to over 20 Mbps with the powerline adapter. My latency is also much improved.
I've been on the fence with regard to powerline adapters for the last year or two but...
