I'm kind of surprised at the response to the Samsung headset as I've found it to be amazing. I love my new Samsung HMD Odyssey too! The screens are sooooo good. Nice and sharp with great color. Text is readable even at distance! Totally comfortable to wear with barely any wires.
And it's...
Loving my 1800X system! So fast at anything I throw at it! I built it to edit 4K video as my last rig was a dog for 4K editing (very fast at 1080P editing which was what it started as).

Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming K7 MB
Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 cooler
Viper 4 Series 16 GB RAM at 3200MHz

Okay, got around to installing Ryzen Master and its readings do match my CPUID HWMonitor readings. So I do have to subtract 20C. At least that gives me peace of mind. I was about to take my system apart and clean off the thermal compound that came with the Noctua and reapply it.
I was...
So which CPU do you have and what temps are you getting?
I've been flashing in Windows for quite awhile now. Especially with Gigabyte with the dual BIOS setup and the Gigabyte Windows utility to flash the BIOS. I don't have a drive A. In the BIOS, it keeps asking for drive A
So here is what CPUID HWMonitor is reporting... So just to be clear, I'm supposed to subtract 20C off the temps... I haven't used this kind of software in awhile so if there's a kind soul out there with an 1800X that can chime in on my numbers and whether they're normal for an 1800X, I would...
So this behavior is intentional? Does that mean they plan to keep it that way? It just seems strange to subtract 20C to realize the actual temp. At least 40C sounds more reasonable than 60C just sitting in the BIOS.
Okay, so I have my Ryzen 1800X fully up, armed, and operational.
And in the BIOS, the CPU temp is reading as 60C? Is this the normal temp? I read that AMD says we're supposed to take 20C off the reading to get the true reading...
well, if all you care about is gaming, Intel is better. but if you do things besides gaming, the AMD looks mighty fine. I do a ton of 4K video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and need as much power as possible within a reasonable budget which is why I'm getting the 1800X. There's no Intel in...
another forum. some guy's post. I know, I know. be careful what you read. but being a neophyte, it's hard to separate fact from fiction/FUD. I don't remember because these posts are coming hot and heavy. so if you go away from the thread for awhile, everything gets buried.
Okay, I first gravitated toward Gigabyte because I've owned Gigabyte in the past and I like the high quality feel of the boards as well as the accessories they came with. I've never owned ASRock. I have had ASUS and other brands over the years.
I haven't overclocked anything since I was like...
this is my build so far. already ordered and coming (except for the 1800X which is still preorder). all that's left is the motherboard and the GPU:
AMD Ryzen 1800X
Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 CPU cooler
motherboard TBD (looking strongly at ASRock Taichi)
16 GB Patriot Viper 4 DDR4 (this may go up to...
Can anyone help me out?
I have a fully functional Windows 7 system consisting of 2 hard drives and multiple partitions. Not wanting to disturb my setup, I put in another hard drive where I could install Windows 8. However, since there were partitions on the other hard drives with files I...
