I can't remember my settings exactly but I used the Low preset and then lowered a few things even further. I'm playing at 1600x900 resolution.
I think I've come to the conclusion that it's a problem with the cooling of my laptop. I turned the AC in my room to 68 rather than 75 and it seemed to...
When I'm idling I can see my CPU at 3+ GHz anyway. I wonder if there's a problem with the CPU management then? Maybe I'll try turning it off next time and see if it fixes it. Unfortunate that I have to sacrifice that feature though since the battery life while in class is already poor as it is...
I'm plugged in and I'm using performance mode in the battery settings, but unfortunately it's not helping.
Armenius if I disable C1/C1E would I risk overheating and frying my CPU? I know that the throttling feature is meant to prevent overheating of the laptop, but I think we can all agree...
I tried setting my "Maximum processor state" to 70% in the battery settings and that seemed to fix it. But I'm hoping for a real solution that doesn't require manually bottlenecking my computer.
EDIT: Nevermind, stopped working.
Hi everyone,
I put in about 2.5 hours of gameplay before today without any issues. However today after about 10 minutes of playing, my fps drops from the 50s/60s down to the 30s. I did notice that my CPU gradually drops from its normal 2.6GHz to 0.7GHz, despite 'normal' temps in the low 70s...
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy the XPS 15, but I'm wondering if I should hold out until the Precision 15 5510 comes out with the Quadro M1000M. I found a link to a Dell website in another language, and apparently they have some information already available there even though it isn't...
Push/pull doesn't have that much more performance than just push or pull. Since you're looking for a quieter system I'd just go with a pull configuration (easier to clean). I have heard that the Noctua NF-F12 are pretty good.
Ah no I do not, thanks. Do you have any recommendations or can I just get any generic speaker wires and RCA cable from amazon?
Edit: This is probably a really stupid question, but how am I actually hooking everything up? I'm looking at the back of the sub in pictures and you can either plug...
Alright, I think I've made my decision on what I'll be purchasing:
Yamaha RX-V371BL -- $170
Dayton Audio B652 --- $50
Polk Audio PSW10 -- -$80
Comes out to about $300. I just wanted to get your opinion on the components I'm going with. Also am I missing anything stupid that I haven't...
Is there a such thing as an amp that can also power a sub? I'm pretty set on getting a system with a sub, and it's the price of a receiver that's really turning me away from a custom system.
I think I'll go with a 2.1 for now and maybe upgrade in the future to a 5.1. I usually game with my headphones anyway since I talk to people on ventrilo. Does anyone have any specific suggestions though? I don't really know which components I should be looking at with my budget. I'm kind of...
I guess stereo it is haha. Also I should note that my desk would only allow for monitors up to 8" tall. I know this is quite small amount of space; would it be possible to just turn them on their sides?
Hello all. So I've been using my Logitech X-540s for quite a while now and I feel like it's about time to upgrade. I know there's a lot of info out there but I'm just overwhelmed at the vast selection there is. I'm hoping not to spend more than $250 if possible, $300 max. From what I've read...
As people leave dorms they leave stuff that they don't want in the hallways, and apparently someone didn't want a subwoofer for the Z 2300. I picked it up but I'm not sure what to do with it lol. I may be mistaken, but this will only work with its own components right?
Hello,
Well I got this 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD in November 2010 and immediately noticed clicking. It wasn't until a couple months ago that I finally decided to call up Seagate and ask for a replacement. They did indeed replace my HDD for free, but even my replacement is clicking. At this...
Yeah I understand, but like I said I'd rather save the money. Being a college student most of my money is going straight to food and rent
Thanks a lot for the input everyone:)
What's the minimum you would have to overclock a 2500k to notice a difference, and can you do that on a stock cooler? I know that I could get a cheap 212+ but I'd rather save my money and not OC at all.
Hello everyone,
Just asking for your opinion on something. I found a "broken" syncmaster 245BW at work the other day. It powers on as I can see from a lit power button, but there is no display when I plug it into my desktop (or any other desktop). The warranty is expired and I don't really...
Hello all. I was looking into getting a UPS for my system, however I wasn't sure which one to get. I know you probably get this question a lot but I just can't seem to find the right answer. Here's my system:
corsair tx650
i5 2500k (stock but may OC in future)
8gb 1333
gtx670
2 3.5"...
