I bought a pair of 681B's for my dad because I couldn't stand seeing him with crappy headphones all the time. They were like 20-25 euro's or something. Coupled with my old soundcard I gave him they sound really great for the price. Little dark, but dark in a nice way.
STX indeed seems overkill for those speakers..
Unless you're going to be buying a pair of >=mid-fi headphones in the future I wouldn't bother getting an expensive sound card.
(If you're ever going to a set of significantly better speakers chances are you'd probably want to use a receiver so then...
Most definately, it's not just a totally different audio device you would be using, but the good DAC and amplification the Sound Blaster Z has can't be used at all, since the D/A conversion has to take place in the headset itsself, which usually has vastly inferior D/A conversion than a good...
cpu usage is not going to tell you much about how it bottlenecks, my 4.8Ghz 3770k is always at 25% when I'm playing games (1 out of 4 cores fully used (singlethreaded game))
AKG K550 is a closed headphone that seems to sound a lot like an open one, some even prefer it over the K701. It's a circumaural model and it's pretty large.
I haven't heard it myself but this is just what I've read about it, you might want to give it a try
I've got the hex, even though it's a little overpriced I'm still satisfied with it since I couldn't find anything that rivaled it's perfect balance between quantity and distinctness of buttons.
6 buttons on the side and 2 extra on top seem perfect, I switched out the functions of the two top...
Thank you, I could make a clearer guide about this with screenshots and stuff, but that'd be a bit late since X-Fi is around for such a long time already and on the verge of being discontinued.
Also as a matter of fact, enabling EAX is of course also a step that has to be taken (given that the...
It's very true that the instructions on using these surround algorithms are pathetic, there's also some hacky stuff you need to do, almost no one is actually using CMSS-3D to it's full potential because of this.
For CMSS-3D headphone for instance, you need to alter...
It's not overclocked anymore and in my country there are a few shops which will bring in additional costs when you send them stuff that's not broken.
But thanks for the idea's, I'll reinstall the card and film the problem as soon as it's occuring again and send them the video
Hi there [H],
I'm having some really weird stuff going on with my GXT 680 Twin Frozr at the moment.
Sometimes when I try to boot my system I'm getting some blue-colored flaky artifacts on my screen while booting and after the windows loading screen the screen just stays blank!
After I...
Probably not much benefit in amping those kind of headphones
You're way better off getting a sound card with a decent amount of output power, such as the Titanium HD or the Essence STX (I'd stay away from the Phoebus or Recon3D)
The Essence STX...
Sounds a bit brighter than the HD
Uses Dolby...
Just found this ol thread.
It were my speakers after all, well actually, their amplifier which is placed in the subwoofer.
I used to have my headphones hooked up to them but I'm now using a new sound card and an headphone amp/speaker preamp and the fluctuations aren't there when using headphones...
I feel your pain @ 60 vs 120 FPS.
People don't have the right to judge about it being visible or not before having worked with a 120hz screen for a while.
Wowow, easy guys, the bad clocking was one of the reasons for me returning it, it also had terrible coil whine (in certain games :s) which I hoped not to see in another unit.
Well the second one has even worse coil whine, its even louder than the fan at 60% at some times.
And I know it...
Well, its not that I was expecting 1300Mhz, i know thats above average
But given some reviews and other peoples results it seems that decent cooling cards such as the twin frozr manage to get 1250Mhz at least..
Hey [H],
Just returned my GTX680 Twin Frozr because it was impossible to get it stable on clocks as 1200Mhz and got myself another Twin Frozr.
This time it even crashed within a minute of unigine heaven at 1202Mhz.
How common are stable 1200Mhz+ clocks anyway, to me it seems like every...
Problem still present...
Anyone having experience with this? This stuff is driving me mad...
EDIT: This shit is getting incredibly annoying in sound based games...
Can anyone tell me why my core clock fluctuates all the time even though its in P0 constantly?
I can adjust my core offset by a few mhz's, but the core clock sometimes doesn't change a bit, and when I push it over a certain threshold it shoots up with 15 mhz instantly....
(i.e.: +71 yields me...
Well, of course, nothing is truly random, but it seems to happen with any kind of audio, and less often with quiet audio.
Set winamp to -12dB now, the damping barely occurs, but still every 30 minutes it does go very faint for a good couple of seconds..
Hey people,
I'm having a very, very, very annoying problem with my new windows 7 install.
I'm still waiting on some sound equipment to get delivered, but right now with onboard sound the volume levels suffer from extrene fluctuation.
Either music, games, anything can get really quiet at times...
I know, but I don't know how winamp caches its audio files into the memory, so can't say for sure.
Anyway, the problem hasn't shown itsself again since changing the option, so I'm hopeful.
Yep, so stupid of me not to check the power management settings, and indeed it was at 20 minutes */facepalm*
Just disabled it, I'll see if the problem persists.
Honestly I believe there's nothing wrong with the drive. I have strong faith now in the fact that the root of the problem was...
I've got to say odd spinning noises might not be the best description, what I'm hearing is a faint spin-up-ish sound and some godo old fashioned "hdd rattling sounds"
Sorry for being a noob at this, but what exactly do you guys want me to copy with CrystalDiskInfo?
I did find something that...
Hey guys,
I've got myself a new harddrive last week and so far it's been great, fast, silent, problem-free setup, but...
Sometimes when I'm listening to music (with winamp) stored on the drive, it stops for like 8 seconds and then continues, in that time, in the meantime I can hear the...
Thanks!
Yeah, I thought that was really lame too, I won't use the mouse with anything else than my desktop anyway, I wish you could just download offline drivers...
On a side note, Razer Synapse 2.0 keeps popping up after booting with gigantic text:
"PLEASE CONNECT A RAZER SYNAPSE 2.0...
Thanks!
Bootloader link 404'd but I could find a standalone firmware updater which worked.
Mouse ressurected!
Still really bad so many people have this problem..
Hey guys,
So this naga hex mouse seemed kinda nice, so I ordered it and got it in the mail today.
Well, i plugged it in, the DPI was sky high so I immediatly went to razers site where I downloaded the driver...
...which required you to register and login,.. after registering and confirming an...
More heat means more voltage needed, thats a fact.
So I suppose those who fail IBT but pass Prime95 are just on the verge of "entering the steep part of the heat/voltage graph" with Prime95 and get into that with IBT if I'm making any sense to you..
I just upgraded from an E8400 to a 3770K and I had a bit of a doubt between the 2700k and the 3770k.
Still pretty glad I went for the 3770k, on high end air I'm nearing 5Ghz (4,8-4,9Ghz) and its pretty damn fast now. A 2700k would probably about just as fast cause it can probably run 5Ghz...
Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking, however, if I'd only knew to tweak which setting...
I don't think my ram is holding me back in terms of stability btw, its corsair ram at its rated speed..
