The Card
One of the three fans (closest to the rear of the case) seems to have some ball bearing/friction/lubrication issues.
When the card is turned off, and I spin the fan blades with my finger, the fan in question stops very quickly after I apply a force to it, where as the other 2...
The item never appeared out of stock for me.
I contacted an adorama representative much earlier today who seemed concerned about the website. However unlikely it may be, it's possible that they added functionality in the way of an availability notifier.
Done. I additionally emailed their various departments, informing them that I had spread the word to various tech sites about their questionable shipping practices and ordering policies.
By the way, Amazon is currently selling RX 700's for $33 w/ free shipping! 6~ left in stock. Get'em while...
I ordered JVC HARX700 headphones from Adorama a week ago. I found out 20 minutes ago that they still have not shipped my order. Apparently their website doesn't tell you when your item is not in stock; It just takes your money and back orders the item.
They gave me a free upgrade to UPS Ground...
You guys are so gay for 2gb cards. If you're going for high FPS, then turning down detail/resolution is a must, which leads to a natural drop in required vram. Hence, this is a card for people who want performance without paying for the eye candy.
That description would taste better coming out...
Hey guys! I'm new to the audio section of the forum, so I thought I'd break the ice with a request aaand a recommendation of mine.
Request:
Looking for a good headset for under $30. I could browse amazon and pick the one that looks the flashiest, since that's all I'd really be going off of...
I have a 120hz monitor at native 1680x1050, and had hoped to hit 120+ fps in the newer games (bf3) on medium (or lower) settings.
Since I need to turn the settings down quite a bit to get those FPS, even with crossfire, my system won't use as much vram. So yeah that was the general idea :D...
Hey guys! I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of video cards. I know that most cards of the same model will CF perfectly well, but I wanted to be sure before making my purchase. I hope you'll excuse my insecurity.
So, will these two cards crossfire together well enough?
6950 1GB Twin Frozr...
HardOCP recently reviewed how a few setups performed in BF3. You can find the link as a sticky/announcement on the front page, or at the bottom of this post.
They compared the 580 to the 6970, both in single and dual GPU modes, and found the following in 1920x1200 resolution with ultra settings...
Hmm, more processing power? Higher temperatures? Not really sure.
In any case, if anyone knows of any studies or official press releases from the big-2 regarding how vsync effects multiGPU stuttering, I would greatly appreciate it. Or similarly, if anyone has personal experience with this, i'd...
Oh fantastic, someone with first hand experience. Could you go into detail regarding:
1. How you know there is 0 microstutter?
2. What settings you are using to require 2700k? (2500k for medium?)
3. Are you getting any mouse lag/delay? Have you tested to confirm/deny this?
4. Triple buffering...
Here is a talking point that I'd love to kick start, if anyone has the knowledge to discuss it:
I've marked where, on a frametime vs frame benchmark of a microstuttering system, a 120hz monitor can be expected to refresh. Two Notes: That benchmark shows 75 frames per second. A 60hz monitor...
I've been in the market for a new system/video card setup for a while. One of the main things influencing my decision to go single/multi (nvidia/ati) has been Microstutter.
If I'm understanding everything correctly:
1. Vsync makes your graphics card wait until your monitor is ready to refresh...
Questiion is in the title. When purchasing my new card (sli/cf), I'd like the ability to confirm the amount of stutter in my system. Seems a good way to visualize this are the Frames Per Second vs Time graphs that HardOCP and Toms use.
Can anyone tell me what software this is?
I'm waiting for a FPS vs Time graph so we can get a feel for microstuttering in bf3.
Isn't it very likely that these crossfire benchmarks are being artificially inflated by AMD's larger framerate variance?
This is now completely off topic, but :
While I hesitate to refute direct experience, hardOCP just did a survey on this. Ultra settings, 2560x1600 resolution, the 6970CF setup scored 70 average FPS. 6970CF is comparable to 570 SLI, so your abnormally low framerate surprises me. If...
Thanks for the information ^_^. I was probably going to turn the settings down to whatever would get me 120. I hope I can stay at or above medium though :0
2500k, nice XD. Thanks a bunch for the motherboard and ram suggestions as well. I'll definitely consider them! Out of curiosity, why z68?
I have to apologize, as I just don't know a whole lot about processors. I have my graphics cards/system all ready to go (sli 560 ti's). I'm just looking for a CPU that can play BF3 at 120 fps, 1680x1050 resolution at whatever settings I can muster.
Will the 2500k bottleneck me? What can you...
Are you sure you just can't notice the stuttering? Maybe you just raised the minimum FPS to a point where stuttering was imperceptible (60+ perceived FPS with microstutter, 100+ actual FPS without stutter).
It's a tough subject because every time you ask someone about micro stuttering they...
I'm by no means a tech expert, but I'm fairly certain that vsync does not increase input lag as long as your GPU is putting out frames faster than your monitor is refreshing.
Can someone with more technical experience regarding this issue correct either myself or (as I suspect it..) the guy...
You are in no way deserving of this, but I have to say that as a dude who's been tirelessly shopping around for good deals on an upcoming build, Mail In Rebates are akin to someone taking a dump in my punch bowl.
That card is not $400; It is $430. You might get $30 back in 6 months. Oh, and...
Thanks for the reply, but this doesn't actually address my question. Are you unable to notice microstuttering simply because it's harder to notices FPS changes at higher frame rates, or do the effects of microstuttering dissipate at those levels?
Also, I have a 120hz monitor.
Peeps say that sli/crossfire systems often give their users trouble around 30fps. Apparently, microstuttering makes 30fps look look like ~20fps. I'm wondering if this remains true for the higher end of the fps spectrum. If my sli/crossfire system is getting 100~ fps, will it SEEM like I'm...
Nice. I think you should be able to render your frames before they occur on your opponents computer with this setup. Precognition ftw.
Question: How does the 580 compare to the 570 at resolutions at/below 1680x1050? (Assuming same detail)
I wanted to play bf3 at 100 fps minimum with at 16x10 resolution. The 6990 seems like a good fit for that (afaik), and I'm getting a pretty good deal on it since I'm buying through a friend.
Anyway, thanks for the recommendations. I'll consider the card you suggested as well as the equipment...
This might be the wrong forum, and if so I apologize in advance for my mistake.
I will be picking up a 6990 soon. Despite the VGA splurge, I'd like to stay on budget with the rest of my PC. What CPU/PSU/MOBO would you guys recommend, that will allow the 6990 to do its thing without breaking...
Thanks a lot samuel. That really narrows my search. After an initial sweep of the market it looks like I'll probably be going with crossfired 6950's :D
Thanks for the advice!
@samuel: I hope you can excuse me ignorance, but why do you insist on the 2gb versions of those cards? The more detail the better, as I've been out of the tech loop for a while.
I'm about to upgrade, and I'm curious what card or card(s) I should buy. I have a 16x10 monitor that can go up to 120hz refresh, so ideally I'd like a setup that can run the latest games (bf3) on high (plenty of eye candy), at a minimum of 100 fps during intense action.
Thanks!
