My gut is saying both monitors have the same panel, so glow would be the same.
The "plastic dirt" isn't that bad on either. Of course, I'm tolerant of it because I don't live in my basement and prefer some AG
Just a tip, never buy refurbished LCDs. There's a lot more risk of dead pixels if I'm not mistaken, and Dell doesn't cover dead pixels unless there's a number of them.
That said, 179 is a great price
Eh, that resolution is fine. Enlarging fonts does work out, if it doesn't people are doing it wrong. Fonts scale correctly on most machines. If anything, the text should look better, and crisper (and less pixelated!)
I'm a casual user on my cellphone. I kind of use my cellphone like a teenage girl would -- Lots of facebook, lots of texting, etc.
I'm currently using an Alcatel OT-806a, and, as you could probably guess, I'm not too fond of it.
I do, however, like the form factor.
What I'd like to find...
I just want to chime in on what I ended up doing.
Apple didn't recognize the iPhone as defective and I ended up returning it to AT&T, and getting a cheaper phone.
Finally, AT&T spiked my pricing and I dropped them as my carrier. I'm now with Cellular One in Montana, using a...
I find it difficult to differentiate between sarcasm and honest-to-goodness bullshit in this thread.
16:9 is for a nonprofessional computer, to be used for nonprofessional things primarily. Someone who does a lot of media(viewing), gaming, and a small bit of work is best suited on a 16:9...
If this is the same panel as the U2311h, I only hope it's not as bad with the inconsistent brightness across the screen.
That's not neccesarily the panel's fault. A cheap IPS is capable, and 6bit panels are, for the majority of users, beyond adequate. Finally, they, in my experience, exhibit...
Are there versions of this monitor out there with consistent brightness?

Because that's a huuuuuuuge turn off, when I'm looking at an IPS to avoid the color issues I get with TN.
Going to a 120hz TN, you'll notice the least difference in input lag and ghosting.
You'll definately notice a difference with color, though.
Prepare for gamma shift.
120hz has its advantages but it's not some miracle thing... If you're coming from a 60hz TN, you'de probably appreciate the upgrade to a 60hz IPS more than a 120hz TN.
viewing angles don't. I sit in front of my monitor.
What bothers me is vertical gamma shift, and I still don't know if this monitor has it (I can't rely on Ocnewb's pics)
So people are still saying it has "all the characteristics of a TN" based solely on one guy's bad pictures that he says are wrong?
Wow, this forum gets pretty bad sometimes.
The pictures are not definitive, mainly because Ocnewb (who took the pictures) says they're wrong.
Contrary to popular belief, pictures can, in fact, lie. Especially digital pictures -- They see things different :p
:/
You're being selective.
Nobody's in denial, but nobody is sure.
Ocnewb's pics are not definitive. They need to stop being brought up and we need to get a professional review instead. -_-
Is there an LG Japan citation that isn't old as hell?
Color inversion seems minimal from above and from the sides. I'm not often under my monitor, so Ocnewb's pics don't worry me... But the apparent gamma shift does.
The retina display is nice.
The price tag is not. This is a cell phone, I am not shelling out that kind of money!
Especially not based on my experiences with apple phones thus far...
Well, it's definately NOT a cheap TN.
Nobody's positive what it is right now, mate. We're hoping for IPS, but there's evidence both ways. It is most definately not a low end TN. At worst, high end TN.
And it's all "acceptable" in the manufacturer's eyes!
Perfection is something to strive for, but something I'll never achieve with an iPhone, I'm thinking
