I wouldn't get a 5870 added to that. Just be content with what you got till it no longer is fulfilling your wants, then upgrade when you can to the 6990 et cetera. Have you tried 11.4 driver from AMD? AMD 11.4 Catalyst

Get them off Ebay cheap(er) due to a few selling off in favour of getting the 6990. I've seen 1st gen 6950s (with bios unlock) going for around $250 AUD.
