Trade in for rampage iv, or stick with p9x78 deluxe

It was the Rampage IV extreme. Lga 2011, and the store was actually a Microcenter. I accidentally mistyped my previous board in the title.

Trade in for rampage iv, or stick with p9x78 deluxe

Well, I did it. Tore the machine apart and returned the board. After another 4 hours of work, I'm now sitting on a rampage Iv extreme platform. Definitely a beautiful board. My second from the RoG line, and definitely won't be my last.

Trade in for rampage iv, or stick with p9x78 deluxe

That's fair. Just the thought of having to move that damn processor again makes me Ill. Haha I still have nightmares of bent pins.

Trade in for rampage iv, or stick with p9x78 deluxe

That would make more sense. Love the name, BTW. ;)

    Nvidia WHQL Driver 266.58

Why does your 570 suck with WoW? The Tom's Hardware WoW guide shows the 570 raping WoW. I'm running a 580 and it seems to be noticably better than even my 6970. Then again, it's only been one day's testing. I'm in that pins and needles place of waiting for my spontaneous reboot issue to come...

6870 Performs Poorly While Playing WoW/Watching a Vid

So, just to verify. This downclocking issue only happens if you're trying to play a video and run a game at the same time? I only ask, because I was going to set my 2D clocks up, but I absolutely never run video in the background when I'm playing something. If I do want to watch a youtube vid or...

    Radeon 6970 and 11.1a

I've been having the worst time with video cards lately. I initially bought a 580 and kept getting BSOD's -> spontaneous reboot, so I traded it for my 6970 in hopes that the video card was causing the issues. I got everything installed last night and threw on 11.1a from ATI's site. I was...

    ASUS Rampage III Formula

I'm currently enjoying this very board. It performs great and the compatibility seems to be second to none.

    New build problem

Ugh... That sounds like fun. Some of these case designers need to put a little more forethought into these designs. Who sandwiches powered wires between a pin cushion and a solid wall? And likewise, who thought it would be quality design to put heavy cables plugged into the roof of a case...

    New build problem

Me either. I'm going to take the front panel apart tonight and see if I can identify the short. If I can, I'm going to break the hot glue gun out and isolate the broken insulation, then blob the soldered pins on the back on the pcb. That should keep everything nice and insulated. Hopefully, this...

    New build problem

Okay, after a little digging it turns out that this is a common issue with the HAFX case. They pressed the connector wires between the front panel PCB and the case roof, causing the soldered pins to pierce the wire sheath and causing a short. It has happened on the USB ports as well, but most...

    New build problem

I've read that the case ports can cause problems from time to time. Just shoddy quality in the wiring. One short is all it takes. I'm not sure about the header on the board, as I don't really have another firewire lead to plug into it, but I have little to no use for the firewire port on the...

    New build problem

Yes. The header for the firewire on the Rampage III formula is red. As soon as I plug the front panel firewire cable of the HAF X into the header... No more booting.

    New build problem

Problem solved. I spent the evening working through the board as was previously suggested. The problem turned out to be the firewire port on the motherboard. If I plug the firewire port on the front of my case into it, it causes the failed cold boot and qled lights. While the new power...

Opinions of the MSI Big Bang Xpower

Just wanted to put some feelers out there to see what you guys think. Anyone have any experiences with it? I think it looks like a fantastic board and I've read nothing but favorable reviews of it. I've heard that it's too immature... Not sure what that means. Anyways, I'm working through a...

    New build problem

No, you're absolutely right. It just wasn't something I thought about. I took my XFX PSU back and picked up the Corsair XH850W. That was the PSU I initially wanted, but they were out of stock. They got their shipment in today, so I figured I'd just swap em put. No reason not to.

    New build problem

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I did use the 8 pin plug there. Removed the dust cover and plugged it in. The only plug that isn't plugged in is the 4 pin molex connector right above the PCIE 1x right under the CPU. The manual states that's for running multiple cards in SLI/Xfire.

    New build problem

That's the weird thing. When the machine comes up after the reset button is pushed. It posts all 6GB ram at 1600 8/8/8/24 @ 1.65w. And memory, cpu, hdd, and vc pass performance tests in Windows 7. It's like the pc is perfectly fine after the reset button is pushed on a cold boot. No, I did not...

    New build problem

:( I know this is the right approach, but I'm kind of stuck here. I have a new born and two days to troubleshoot before I leave for the Christmas holiday... I'm just worried about the 14 day return policies on some of my gear. I be returning home about the time my return policy ends on my ram...

    New build problem

When you say it had to warm up, how long did that take? As soon as mine boots up, I just touch the reset button and all is well with the machine.

Jeez... That would suck. Not as much as pulling the whole motherboard, but still.

No dice... It's just really strange. It works fine after I hit the reset button, but first power on is always a failure.

    New build problem

Strange new build issue Hello all. I really hope you guys can help me out, cause I'm stumped... Long story short: I'm an experienced pc builder, but just now making the jump to the current generation of 1366 systems. The system is as follows: CPU: i7 950 Motherboard: Rampage III Formula...

570, 6970, or 580 for my new build

All of my gear is being picked up in about 30 minutes. Went with the eVga 580. I'm getting fidgety... Lot of work to do tonight, but it is going to be the truck load of stress relief that I've needed after the last three weeks spent with my mother-in-law...

570, 6970, or 580 for my new build

lol! I don't have to worry about the wife thing. Luckily, I'm one of those guys that beats himself up if I make a decision that I later regret. That leads to complaining. My wife doesn't do complaining, so she tells me just get what I really want and spare her the days of brooding and...

570, 6970, or 580 for my new build

I was very good over the last week... I waited for ATI to show their card before pulling the trigger on my new build. However, it just seems to make things worse. I'm horrible at both making up my mind and not buying the best in the market even if I don't need it. So, I come to you, my brothers...
