Had been planning on the Asus Strix but after I saw the $80 premium went for the MSI Armor instead. If the MSI GamerX had been available, $40 premium, I might have gone for that instead, but I think the Armor will serve my 4K needs well.
I wasn't expecting the Strix to carry a $100 premium, is that much of a price increase normal for the Strix or just an early adopter tax. I though the premium would be more in the $40 - $50 range
Damn my old eye, its only a $80 premium. Fair enough ordered the MSI Armor instead
I'd like to see 4K numbers. I'm currently running 4K on a 980ti and would like to see how much of an improvement the 1080ti will be at that res. I don't think the review needs to be 4K exclusive, and while the number of us running 4K monitors is still relatively small, I'd guess that the number...
I have not OC'd my Matrix beyond the factory OC yet, hopefully I'll find some time to do so this weekend. It will be interesting to see if there will be any 1080 benchmarks revealed tonight to compare to. The leaked bench I read earlier didn't seem to be much of an improvement over what the...
I ended up going with a single Asus GTX980ti Matrix and as revenant and trentchau mentioned I find it to be generally smoother in most of the games I play than the 970 SLI. I still have a few weeks left open if I want to return it but unless something in tonight's 1080 announcement changes my...
Thanks, found this one on mono price that's a bit less expensive
DisplayPort 1.2a to 4K HDMI®, Dual Link DVI, and VGA Passive Adapter, Black - Monoprice.com
Or this one
DisplayPort 1.2a to DVI Active Adapter, Black - Monoprice.com
Both had some negative reviews but mono price is good about...
I've got the 970 in for now. I tried iGPU through the DVI conector but as someone said earlier the best I could do was 1080. I'll looked around for a diplay port to DVI but the only one I could find was mini display port. I'll give the 970 a try for a while and think about getting another...
I've already got the 970, actually a pair of them. Just debating keeping one of them vs selling them both. I've never been good about selling old kit, but I've got a pair of 970's, a 7970, and a pair of 460's sitting in a closet. Not sure which, if any should be repurposed and which should be sold
I'm still willing to give iGPU a try but I was digging around in a closet and found a pair of GTX460's. I might throw one of those in, or would a 970 be a better option I terms of power usage and noise.
Thanks for the warning. I'm just going to give the iGPU a shot. If it didn't work I'll most likely keep one of my 970's. This brings up another question, is there any advantage to using the 970 as a physics card or is that basically a dead technology.
I've got a 4790k. Can you use the iGPU at the same time as the discrete GPU. I want to game on the GTX970/4K monitor, while using the 2560x1600 for YouTube. Would doing so sap any of the 4790's processing power or is the iGPU completely seperate?
I really need to get in there and edit my sig, it's an old build. That being said I still have the 7970 as well as a pair of GTX 970's, but I was looking for the 'lightest' solution for driving the 2560 X 1600 for desktop apps (no gaming). I'm afraid I didn't make that very clear in the op. I'd...
Ive got a Asus GTX980ti Matrix driving my 55" 4K monitor. I'd like to set up my 2560x1600 monitor to watch streams, browse the forums, etc while I game on the 4K monitor. Nothing very graphically demanding but I don't want to sacrifice any of the 980ti's power away from the 4K monitor. I don't...
The wisest choice for me would likely be to skip the 980ti and Pascal and hold out for big Pascal, but I've got the 'itch' so I'll give it a shot. Thanks all for the feedback
I pulled the trigger on an Asus GTX980ti Matrix. From what I gather I won't get much of a bost over the 970's in games that have good SLI support, but I play a few where SLI support is lame so I'm hoping to see some real gains there. Odd how this card is just over $700 on Amazon but just shy of...
I currently have a pair of 970's in SLI and I'm not happy with the 4K performance. Taking waiting for Pascal of the table would a single GTX980ti offer better gaming performance at 4K or would I really need a pair of 980ti's. My preference would be a single 980ti to drive a single 4K monitor...
I'm considering adding a 500GB Samsung 950 Pro m.2 to my system but was wondering if the Z97 has enough PCIe lanes to run the drive at full speed considering I'm already running 2 GTX970's in SLI.
My Samsung UN55JU6700 should be arriving today and I'm looking for some feedback on set up options. I'll be using the monitor solely for PC gaming and watching YouTube/Twitch streams. What are the pros and cons of setting the monitor up as a PC monitor vs a gaming monitor? I tried to find the...
Good point about not having done a fresh install of Windows. I was hoping to avoid doing so but it may be worth the effort if this is the first sign of complications
The dialog for all of the advanced benchmarks in 3DMark Advanced states that "My hardware is not compatible for the test" and that the test requires a DirectX 11 GPU. I'm running a pair of GTX970's in SLI. The Preliminary benchmark will run and it does detect my cards, DXDiag shows I'm running...
Features wise the Pro meets my needs and saves me quite a bit of money over going with the Deluxe. What I'm not quite sure of though is do I loose anything from a build / component quality by going with the Pro over the Deluxe?
A pair of Asus Strix GTX970's in SLI. No coil whine so far. I only installed them yesterday and haven't done extensive tests but quick runs through FurMark and Unigine Valley did not produce any coil whine.
I'm happy with the performance I'm seeing from a single 7970 on my 30" display, mostly Skyrim and CiV.
In Skyrim I'm seeing 60fps avg on ultra and a number of texture mods. Averaging 1.9 - 2.2GB vram usage.
This is my first ATI card after years of nVidia.
We won't know if its worth...
Why do I sense another...

Good discusion, for the most part, on binning, OC potential and the luck of the draw.
