It's interesting your observation about the pads that were too thin in the EK kit. I actually was surprised of the opposite with the Bykski kit, with these thick pads. Now, I guess thick is better than thin, in this context.
Regarding spending time while installing Win 11 concerned that the GPU...
Good point about having done it already to know what to do.
No issue with the quality, though. This is my second Bykski videocard water-block. Both times I opted for this brand because it was the only one making blocks for my cards. Eventually, I can confirm that the quality is very good...
...wait a second
I must do something wrong
I have Kombustor benchmark from my 3070
...and what is online for the 2080 ti
All right, I have a card that costed half of the 2080ti with similar (a little inferior) performance.
I like it anyway!
I do not know... I may do something wrong with the settings, but here my numbers
2080ti
and 3070
For whatever reason I could not get 4K with the 3070 unless with exclusive fullscreen OFF, but anyway here it is.
I see similar improvement with RDR2 and Control.
I am one of those "fools" to play...
I was trying to purchase ANYTHING for months. In December 2020, found an RTX 3070 (Asus KO OC) at my local Microcenter for $582.99 including taxes. I thought to upgrade to a Radeon 6900 XT as soon as possible.
I was such a dreamer...
I installed a Bykski waterblock for the DUAL version from the...
I was wondering the same before ordering. I saw some good reviews, but what do they really mean? Reviews can always be faked.
Anyway, I paid with PayPal, so I felt protected.
Interesting note (at least for me): FormulaMod does not load-up with a VPN, so I had to close my VPN (IPVanish).
It took...
It's done!
The block arrived on Jan 15th.
Below the steps for installing it.
I ordered the GPU block, RGB, and back-plate.
No instructions included! I had to guess what goes where, but it was not my first GPU block to install, so I managed.
The block is stunning:
First, remove the original...
Thank you termite.
I ended-up buying a
Bykski 3070 GPU Water Cooling Block For ASUS RTX3070 DUAL, Graphics Card Liquid Cooler System, N-AS3070DUAL-X
from FormulaMod.
The pictures in the item description look promising, with a hypothetical overlap between the DUAL version and the KO one...
I just bought an ASUS KO RTX 3070 OC at Microcenter.
Why this one? It was the only one available!
Now, time to find a water-block for this puppy.
I did not take-off the air-cooler yet, but I have found this picture of the PCB online
This seems identical to the PCB of the ASUS GeForce RTX 3070...
This video from Optimum Tech describes a negative experience in installing the "good stuff" into a 9.5 liter case. It was an unsuccess because of a 10% freq. drop from the CPU (a Ryzen 9 5950X) despite acceptable temps. This positioned the 5950X performance to the level of a 3000 series CPU...
YES! I did this, for example:
It's showing that a single loop can serve two systems, one Threadripper 3960X + Radeon RX 5700 XT and, in series, one Ryzen 2 3900X + GeForce RTX 2080 ti.
In this case, a double series (not paraleel), but showing that things can be done despite what the "experts"...
Yes, I think this is it.
Not too bad, since that old Swiftech 240 mm rad is not part of the final dual-system build.
Fingers crossed: hopefully no more green ugly stuff coming from this loop (y)
Thank you for your thoughts, but I realize that there must be some confusion about when the green liquid appeared.
The green liquid came out when I extracted my Zen2 ITX gaming system from the Raijintek Ophion Evo case for moving it into the dual-system Phanteks Enthoo 719. To do so, I made two...
Done! When re-purposed the mini-ITX system for the dual-system build, I did a proper cleaning and flushing with the Mayhems System.
This means cleaning radiators (part 1) and washing/flushing the loop (part 2).
Then, I used the EK Cryofuel to fill it.
What I did not do is disassembling the CPU...
I did a mini-ITX build done in 2013 with the The Swiftech H220. I loved it, but switched to other builds soon after and parked the X220 until December 2019.
In December 2019, I expanded the old Swiftech H220 (CPU blck/pump and 240 mm radiator) with an Alphacool Eisblock GPX-N Plexi GeForce RTX...
Yes, 2 systems, one custom loop... with 1 x 360 mm radiator (60 mm thick) on the top as exhaust, 1 x 480 mm (30 mm thick) on the front as intake, one D5-reservoir combo (on the front), 1 distroplate on the back, one block/pump on the mini-ITX (for the Ryzen 9 3900X).
A lot of planning before...
I made it! :)
I moved my AMD Zen2 Monster Gaming mini-ITX system into a huge dual system Phanteks Anthoo 719 case, sharing the 'rent' with a massive Threadripper 1960X, all with a custom watercooling loop.
Posting the build process soon!
I just bought the same size fittings and flex tubes from EKWB! Just matte black tubes in my case.
@ FrgMstr, thank you so much for the recommendations! 🙏
I did it!
I am building a dual-system machine!
Pushed by the fear of empty stores, like empty Microcenter or everything out of stock at Neweeg, I broke my piggy bank and made three orders:
Newegg.com
Amazon.com
EKWB.com
Here the pcpartpicker list of parts from Newegg.com.
The GPU block for the...
All true (sadly).
Only point to add is that this is the best time to purchase PC goodies before the end of the buffer stock from distributors and manufacturer. Once the manufacture and distribution is back, prices would stay high for long.
I do tons of multitasking with many PCs altogether, so...
Hi noko,
Thank you for the additional details.
Those optanes are too expensive right now, I'll wait for them to go down before getting one. I may start with a bunch of cheap NVME (I never though I would ever have said that one year ago).
I saw the Buildzoid TR3 mobo overview too, and completely...
Very interesting board.
Please, keep us updated re stability, overclock (CPU and RAM), use (rendering, gaming, etc.)
Are you using it with Fedora 31 or Windows?
Thanks!!!
I know we share the same passion for good challenges.
To full disclosure, the Optimum Tech YouTube videos are really inspiring and have triggered my build.
