Looking for a nettop pc, something like the fit-pc2, msi wind, or similar.
Must have HDMI out and wifi. Preferably a fanless setup, although anything under 15 watts at load would be alright on noise I think.
Also must be capable of running 1080p video at 24 frames, in either Windows or...

My roommate is going to be upgrading his computer and has a need of a few parts.
First and foremost, a video card. Thinking the $80-$140 range, like 4800 series ATI or a gtx260 or equivalent. Not interested in SLI or x2 solutions.
For the processor and motherboard, he already has an AM2...

I got a tiny samsung 640gb for $100 from newegg and it has been running very very nicely.. also it's tiny.
I wouldn't believe most of the reviews that you read as not so many post reviews when they have a fully functioning product.
I'm a little bit dissapointed in the game in general.. I really respected Gearbox and had pretty big expectations as an 'fps diablo' but not only is it extremely easy to hack, the mp system is absolutely terrible and there's no reason to play more than once. It was fun while the first campaign...
I think Torchlight has its place and that comparisons to D2 just because of similar gameplay is a little harsh. The game is good singleplayer fun, and of course you knew that going in.. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the MP :D
OpenGL hopefully will make somewhat of a comeback, I'm almost tired of playing games just for this reason. I'm no huge anti-MS hater but I do find it annoying when a company tries to play around like that.
I've never even heard of most of the games, but their skill in crafting is extremely impressive. I wonder what their friends thought, my mind would be blown.
I don't like the effect, no one I know IRL actually likes the effect and all of my friends are gamers. I'm all for the 120hz monitors, but the 3d looks like crap, is expensive, and uncomfortable. I think AMD has no reason to make a response to 3d. It's like governments not negotiating with...
Buy something used if you're just going to be selling it in a couple months for Fermi anyways.. craigslist or the forum here or even ebay can be good resources for cheap cards that will perform well. There's no point in buying an 8800gt new even if you could find a seller, it will be twice the...
Well think of it this way, on APG the $115 total gets you something a full generation behind and one level lower than the 4870, which is priced similarly for PCi-E (recently got one for $122). If I were you I would just wait for a total system change, as it's not likely you'll be able to sell...
I now feel a bit more confident in my purchase for the 40gb.. although I don't think I'll be booting any games from it, just Windows. I heard MLB2k9 takes up more space than it's worth anyways.
I too have gotten somewhat burned out on gaming, I still play L4D versus mode but I can't deal with games that have a possibility of imbalance. I like my gaming to rely on my skill alone or I get really angry when my teammates do something wrong (even if I'm also playing poorly). The majority of...
I would have to say any of the games in the Splinter Cell series on PC. A typical gameplay scenario involves going through the same 5 minutes of the game 15x to do exactly what the game wants in order to get to the next part, repeat.
Even the first level of Chaos Theory is sadistically...
Well I did notice at first actually that I had some input lag, but then I just kind of got used to it. Good to know, maybe now the controls will be as responsive as I expected when first booting up.
PartedMagic works as a liveCD.. so you won't be running your current Windows at all when you boot the CD. It is an O/S itself.
And it is probably the easiest way to do it, just download the iso and burn and reboot. The menu systems are very self explanatory.
I got mixed up with RAID 1 there..
haven't actually had any RAID disks for a while since SSD's became feasible.
That said, I still stand by my recommendation of a smaller partition for the O/S and main apps, with the rest of space free for whatever in RAID 0.
