I switched to an x4 970 just last night. With a corsair h70. OC to 4ghz stock volts. May try an undervolt even. gigabyte ga-ma770t-ud3p. Under prime95 and intel burn test I had a single spike to 57.5c. bf3 got it to 50c and kept it there. Running a stock clock 5870. no drops under 40...

I haven't had any issues with AMD since trying to run an old FireGL under linux.

New x4 is stable at 4ghz. max temp under torture is 57.5, idles @ 27. Runs bf3 great. I'm entirely happy with it.:D

My x3 was actually really impressive in how it stood up. But that third core going sour and never dropping below 50% is it's death knell. When you disable that and it's suddenly back to two.... :eek:
