I can't say for sure.
Yes I disabled inheritance from the parent folder, set the OU the users are in the have all permisions.
I will do that, does it look to you that the hard drives aren't performing fast enough?
I can't, the error is sporadic and the users delete the file after they save a new copy of it.
I reset all of the file permissions on that entire folder.
I didn't get a chance to stop this last night so it ran all night.

Interesting... I will look into this one.
The exact error message they get is "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error"
Thanks, I didn't know about this utility and was looking for something that could give me some metrics. I have started it on there server so we...

I am very familiar with with backup/DR solutions, I am a Datto Partner and have deployed there devices to several clients. I also have experience with Zenith BDR and am a Zenith partners as well.
Thanks spectrumbx, until this client insisted on this particular setup I wasn't even aware of...
I proposed a traditional 2 drive RAID 1 with a hot spare, but he insisted that he has a lot of backup experience. I plan on demoing his a Datto Sirus device and see what he thinks.
I forgot to mention the RAID needs to be on a Windows 2012 server.
All he wants is a 4-way mirror, I assume he lost data due to a hard drive failure and isn't thinking about other possible failures that can impact his business.
I couldn't find any documentation on any controllers which specifically said they support this.
I had a new client contact me with very specific requests for a server quote. I tried to meet with them to better assess their needs but they werent available.
He wants a RAID 1 with 4 drives, I would try to talk him into a RAID 1 with hot spare and a good DR solution but he is very...
Our staff network is going to be pretty restrictive, mainly prevent time wasters. But I will definitely implement it as Dragon is suggesting, just not blocking time wasters. The bandwidth issues for there public network users going on YouTube or Facebook is negligible.
Jay, has application...
Your are correct and those are all great points. I was going to suggest to her to add some encryption to it, but that still doesn't stop someone from visiting the office using the WiFi and then using it outside the office in range.
I can also see having limited blocking for porn and such on...
None of the devices the staff uses are wireless, it is mainly for owners devices and the public.
From what I am reading on the Untangle forums it is going to require using Layer 3 VLANs I just have not been able to grasp the entire setup yet.
Here is my situation.
1. Client has 2 Ubiquiti UniFi APs that currently separate the public and private network.
2. I want to install a Untangle firewall for a content filter based on active directory account, but I don't care about the public WiFi.
How do I filter the domain...
Our new software vendor doesn't support SBS at all.
Once the legacy software is no longer needed what would the procedure be to remove the old 03 SBS server and have the 08 R2 server take over its roles?
Do I even need to have the new server as a additional domain controller? What are the...
Do you think I should just make it a member server and secondary domain controller until we phase out the legacy software and then at the time move all the rolls over?
I have a particularly difficult domain migration coming up and was needing some advice. I am having trouble devising the best way to do the migration.
Here is the network, current and planned.
1. Old server is a 2003 SBS server which is the domain controller, DHCP and DNS server.
2. New...
It was definitely an RST issue. One of the first things I tried was the latest RST driver from Intel's website for this motherboard. As it turns out they didn't have the most current RST driver under this listed under this board on there site, so I just searched for the RST driver and came up...
RST does recognize them as 3TB, it is the Windows install that doesn't.
I also just tried that in the Windows setup and still the same thing.
Another thing that I don't understand is why Windows see three discs at all, every RAID I have setup in the past the OS doesn't even see the drives in...
I am setting up a server and am using a S1200BTSR motherboard with 3 x 3TB hard drives in a RAID 5. The BIOS recognizes the drives as 3TB, even when I create the array it is the correct size, but when I go to install Windows it is recognized as 746GB. It doesn't matter if I create the array as...
Datto does use Shadowsnap, I have to do some more reading on their "inverse chain". Is there ever a need to start with a new image? What do you recommend for retention?
Thank you guys for all the advice.
I was able to get them into a Siris Lite device, the lower device and monthly costs are what did it. We are going to setup the backups for every 5min.
The software they use is OfficeMate, which is horrible BTW. In the past when I did a DB restore we took it...
I have a problem client that doesn't want to spend the money on a Datto Siris device which I recommended to them.
They are using SQL 2008 and I know it has a built in backup automation but I am not very familiar with SQL.
Perfect, thank you guys for the help.
Now all I need to do is get setup with a reseller to get a VLA, I know you said to purchase this threw someone local, but can I get it threw Dell? That is who we are getting the server from.
Microsoft licensing is so confusing to me, I am setting up a new TS and need to make sure I get this all correct. So I have a couple of questions.
1. This server is going to be a member server on a 2003 domain, do I need CALs for the server in addition to the RDS CALs?
2. I know that...
Just in case you guys were wondering the performance diffrence with the various RAID setups i have included the screenshots below.
I was really not happy with the drives at all, i am sending them back and am going back to my Raptors as my replacment drive is here from WDC.

I was just reading something about secure erase, would that help at all?
Also should i check with Kingston on the newest firmware for these drives? Will i have to break the RAID to flash them?
I was looking at a RocketRAID 16 Port controler, would the hardware RAID resolve the issue...
What can i do to get rid of the stutter?

I also picked up a backplane for them to sit in.
