Can confirm that this board is awesome, very extensive overclocking abilities. Also the best mATX layout around. And it has the P45 chipset, better than the G41/G31. If you have the cash, get it. Running an E8400 on it.
I too, have a Mini P180 using it with a DFI LanParty JR X58 and Core i7, using the Noctua special edition with a Push/Pull setup. I'm using this setup and it works good.
I'm having stability problems with mine, plus it only supports 1333 mhz ram triple channel. Trying to find the right mix, but probably will upgrade to this Asus Rampage II Gene as soon as it's out.

On a more serious note. I'm excited about these, as I've been waiting to replace my 512mb 4870 for a while.
If you want really silence, there's a semi-passive PSU which I found really good. Never even heard the fan running and using a 450W since a few months.

I'd say open the computer up. Check that the fan is plugged in correctly in a 3pin slot on the mainboard. Although your card should really not overheat just because the frontfan is not working, I suspect there's maybe something else wrong with all this, too.
Edit: Try downloading this app and...
I had that driver problem with my nvidia 8800 gtx and a abit mainboard. I never found out what was wrong, blamed the nvidia card and bought a ati card last summer. Sorry I can't be any help, but nothing I tried got it working. :/
